Dragons throughout history

I originally submitted this article in 2021, but my attitude has changed.

Dragon, Dragon shining bright,
As you make your evening flight
Will you shower man with good
Or leave him burning down to soot.

What is a dragon*?
Is it an animal, mineral, or vegetable? Is it a series of stars that look nothing
like a dragon, bears, unicorns, etc, but someone, at some time thought they
did? Maybe it’s imaginary(children cover your ears)…like Santa.

Fantasy, magical, and legendary dragons have been described as being
good, bad, and ugly, craving pretty little virgins.
Really? (Sarcasm) Naw… but there are too many “mentions” throughout
our history to not wonder if there was a minuscule shred of truth to it.

The Eastern Dragon, both good and bad was looked on as a noble creature.

The Western Dragon, not so much. It had a villainous reputation, often found
in caves protecting a treasure. It was said that it had a lust for gold and wasn’t
fond of…men wearing metal suits (Knights)

Dragons have been mentioned in the writing and art of myths from Egypt,
Mesopotamia, Greece Norse mythology, etc. Depictions of dragons have
surfaced throughout Asia and Africa, even the Americas. They were
even mentioned in the Hebrew Bible** (the Christian Old Testament).
Although these may have been symbolic metaphors.

Perhaps they represented the courage of man in defeating evil. And maybe
a sort of masculine rite of passage. (You never heard of a woman beating
her sword on her shield, did ya?)

I believe that the frightened, ignorant people lived in fear. I too would have been
afraid of the dark and what was in it. Heck, today, kids will sit around a
campfire and frighten each other with scary stories.

“Hindsight is better than foresight”
But sometimes you can correct that.

I couldn’t imagine a new dragon this year, but this is my new pet.
His name is Thistle and he’s a Bragon.
A Bragon is a hybrid between a Dragon and a bat.
As you can see, he’s shades of purple and the size of a quarter.

I honestly love working with Dragons myself. Their energy is so intense, but yet inviting.

Hi Brandon
The truth, or belief in dragons is interesting. They’re imaginary, Right? Still, I wonder…
Ever wonder about the birds that fly over your newly washed car and poop bomb it?
It is intentional! And somewhere an imaginary dragon is snickering, " Gotcha."
