Dream About Papa Legba

What does it mean, if anything, to dream of and think about Papa Legba? I woke up this morning thinking about him and this has persisted all day. I do not practice Voodou as I am white. What gives here?

I had a similar experience but with Baron Samedi, and it was an amazing journey he took me on. Here’s the link if it helps at all.

Journey with Baron Samedi (TW:Death)

Also let me tag in @Mystique as she practices Voodoo

And here’s the ritual I did with the Baron. It was fine.

Did you do your ritual the same day?

No, I probably spent a few months researching the Iowa and the stories first. It was a slow journey.

I wouldn’t worry about colour, there are accounts of Iowa reaching out to all cultures. You’re not initiating into the Voodoo faith, you’ve had a dream where Papa Legba has featured. It could be a sign from him, or it could have another meaning. Perhaps look into the dream. My dream included the Baron, it was at a time when I was learning about possibly training to be a psychic/medium. So, the Baron aided that, as a gatekeeper to the other side. I’m not voodoo, I practice Nordic, traditional British Witchcraft and currently learning the mystics of Christian Witchcraft, but sometimes deity reaches out for a specific reason, and sometimes it’s symbolic of something else. Perhaps research about Papa Legba and who he is. :person_shrugging::grin:

I also had a spiritual reading to see why I had this dream from the Baron before I worked with him. It’s here, if it helps.

Hi @maurice2 ! Thank you @tracyS for tagging me!

Tracy is correct. Your race does not matter. I am white and practice voodoo. I’m not fully initiated into it as you need an elder practitioner to show you the ways, there are none that I am aware of in the state of Minnesota. I just study it quite heavily and practice a lot of voodoo.

A dream about Papa Legba could mean that you have an ancestor trying to reach you.

Papa Legba is the gatekeeper between the worlds. He is the one you ask to open the gate to communicate with the other side and ask to close the gate when you are done.

I would light a red candle, set a couple coins next to it for offering to him. Clear your mind and concentrate on him. Ask him if there is something he is trying to tell you or if an ancestor is reaching out. If you do not hear from him during your meditation, leave the coins, let the candle burn itself out and he will probably come to you in your dream to let you know what it is he wants.

Keep us posted on anything you learn! I’m always curious to hear what this amazing Loa has to say! :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:

Thanks Michelle. I am in Rapid City. We are just a hop skip and jump away from one another. If it is OK with you, I might bounce some things off of you in the future.

Do I need to use his Veve to contact him?

I have family there! We don’t communicate, but they are there. Lol We really aren’t that far apart. That’s cool! I’m in Breezy Point. North central part of Minnesota.

Feel free to anytime!

It’s not necessary but you feel it will make your connection stronger you can.

Can I just chip in about the Veve. This may only be about The Baron, due to him being part of the trickster spirit family, but the Veve was important because it protects you from getting a fake spirit that’s looking to attach to you. The Veve, again this could be specific to Baron Samedi, is the signature to that deity, and that deity alone. I’m not contradicting @Mystique she knows her stuff , but it was stressed to me, for the Baron, use his Veve and draw it correctly. I’m just adding this incase Papa Legba introduces you to other Loa, and you are blessed to meet The Baron, tricksters are well, tricky

Very good point! The Veve will protect from a trickster spirit from coming in and pretending to be who you are searching for. I can usually feel if the spirit isn’t right. They put off a different vibe. If I feel the spirit isn’t right I close everything and send it back.

@maurice2 , I wasn’t thinking about what Tracy was saying about protection. The first time contacting them you should probably use the Veve if you at unfamiliar with them. I forget about some of these details because I have worked with some of them and know their “feel” and just know when it’s not right.

I am a bit confused. Am I supposed to summon Papa Legba and use his VeVe and then Baron Samdi and use his VeVe?

As it’s Papa Legba, I’d start with him. I just mentioned the Baron, as that’s who I worked with. Papa Legba is the deity through which you contact all the others. :green_heart:
