Merry meet and blessed Neptunalia!
The Neptunalia is an ancient Roman festival for the God Neptune (Greek equivalent: Poseidon) celebrated annually at the end of July.
The Neptunalia was an obscure archaic two-day festival in honor of Neptune as god of waters, celebrated at Rome in the heat and drought of summer… ~Wikipedia: Neptunalia
It is definitely the peak of summer here in the Northern Hemisphere as we speed toward Lammas and the first harvest. Leo season is just beginning, so we still have a ways to go until the Dog Days of Summer end and the Lion’s Gate arrives. For many, this is a season of drought, wildfires, and intense summer heat.
If you’re craving a cool refresh, the Neptunalia is for you. Let’s banish drought and seek the favor of the Water God Neptune/Poseidon with this water elemental candle spell ![]()
Drought Breaker
Water Elemental Candle Spell
You will need:
- Blue candle
- Sea salt
- 3 ice cubes
- Fire and water proof dish
-
Begin by cleansing your space and gathering the spell ingredients.
-
Place your blue candle in the center of your dish. Place the ice cubes around it.
-
Sprinkle sea salt in a clockwise motion around your candle. As you do, imagine the cool energy of the sea washing over your space.
-
Take three deep and grounding breaths. As you do, imagine that you are able to dive deep underwater. As you inhale on the third breath, light your candle.
-
Hold your breath for however long is comfortable for you. When you’re ready, release your breath slow and steady. Imagine the coolness of deep water surrounding you in a comforting and healing way. You can breathe normally now.
-
Allow your candle to burn. As it does, the ice will melt around the base of the candle. Observe the energies of fire and water interacting in front of you. Use this time to focus on your intention - to bring rain, end drought, invite cooler temperatures, or whatever you desire.
-
Meditate and continue to visualize the cool energy of water until the fire goes out. At this moment, the water energy has surpassed the energy of fire.
-
Leave the dish on your altar or in a central place in your home to hold the water energies in place. Consider reading the wax remains from the candle for any divine messages.
