That’s just a few of them! I snagged a bunch, even ones I may or may not be interested in right now, just to have them in case I get interested later. So I thought I’d point it out, and let y’all know! Have fun filling your library!
Wow - that’s a lot of books for free! I was surprised to see so many topics written by the same author. There’s one for New Zealand Maori to Native American to Japanese Shinto to Siberian Shamanism and more. There’s also a book on Haitian Vodou which, per my understanding, is a “closed” practice generally meant to be learned directly with those involved in it.
It looks like the books are researched and written by GenAI, then manually edited. I try to avoid AI generated books to the best of my ability, so I’ll sit this one out.
Still, it’s always fun to see free books! Thank you for the heads up about the deal, Amethyst. It’s kind of you to share!
These books could have value as an overview of something I have not studies before, to ignite an interest and create a pleasant rabbit hole of research. Too bad AI doesn’t include references so I could seek the originals and offer due honor. I dare not quote these books in my own writing.
Now I remember why I couldn’t get food on Amazon when Walmart went out of business. They require a credit card simply to sign in- a credit card I haven’t had in years, and a phone number I don’t even recognize. Well, they are losing a customer.
I just opened the Yoruba book (it is one I have done some research on over the last few weeks). It wasn’t obviously directly copied from an AI. I’m holding my opinion for a breath until I can see the quality of some of the others. Using an AI for research, especially since they are starting to leave reference links is not automatically bad… or good.
No apology needed! I’m glad the author was transparent with the disclaimer about AI use. Being upfront and honest lets the customer/reader make a decision for themselves about how they chose to interact (or not interact) with the content in the books. There’s a lot of power in both knowledge and choice
Thank you again truly for sharing your find. I always appreciate your kind heads up about special deals and promos
