T-Rex, big (Think of thunder thighs with a lethal tail). A predator ‘magnifique’, and mean, always hungry, seriously cranky. (Did did you see the itty, bitty front legs it was given. That in itself would have P.O.’d me.)
When were you the most proud of yourself? As a new R.N. I was going to save the world! Time and experience taught me better. Now, I’m happy to save little pieces, one at a time
If you could combine two animals into a pet, what would they be? And what would you call your new animal creation?
This was easy, a Dragon. Because dragons are perfect, there’s no need for crossbreeding. He would eat only chocolate, I’d call him…Bob, but he would have a companion, a sweet little jersey cow, named Bessy.
Which is better - creamy or crunchy peanut butter? Peter Pan Honey Roast smooth peanut butter, yummy for my tummy
What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?
I didn’t have much choice, a pillow case with head and arm holes cut out. Tada! Casper the friendly ghost. The boys were bigger, they had to use sheets and became
Casper’s evil brothers.
I hate having to look up a word. Because you have to kind of know what the word says to even get a good result with Google. I’m sure I got an STD listing before I got to the dinosaurs.
I have a little gargoyle that I keep on my desk that is a Winged Cat-bat! His name is Pookie and he helps protect me!
Yeah, Halloween was the one holiday of the year my Dad could almost always get off, so we’d go out for hours. That was back in the day, before there were just two hours to go around in too! I had many Pixie Sticks in the back of our old Mercury car while going around. It was so much fun!
Oh my! Yeah, I can see why you got teased. One year, I went as a Goblin or something, with those inflatable head costumes that were popular. The green wouldn’t come off for over a week!
True! But a bee-cat hybrid would be fun too!
Tentacles. And it was a Sharktopus. Apparently, there was a bunch of movies with a Sharktopus.
And yeah, a trained Snaketopus would be the focus of several bad anime movies, I’m sure!
Very cool! I always wanted a Poodle skirt.
Poor thing can’t reach to scratch its back. Or scratch anything else! That alone would make me cranky.
1 T-REX!! Obviously, this is purely based on all of the Jurassic Park movies, but I can’t help it. Those tiny claws, yet t-rex was the king of them all… size doesn’t matter I must confess, I have a soft spot for the Velociraptor though, simply for being so badass - always coordinated, always got each other’s backs, usually got the bad guy, usually in sync… probably the way we humans should be…
2 I am proud at the end of every single day that I don’t slap someone with a sledgehammer, no matter how deserving they are. I would not do well in prison.
3 Hmmmmmmmm… I think a cat and a phoenix, I’ve no idea what the new creation would be named, but I would call her Fire. And whenever she burst into flames, she’d change from a cat to a life-sized phoenix and carry me away to somewhere sunny and all-inclusive.
4 Smooth peanut butter all day long. The crunchy peanut butter just isn’t the right kind of crunch for me, so I usually add my own crunch… but more often than not, it’s just smooth peanut butter and honey roasted ham.
5 We weren’t allowed to celebrate Halloween because we were Christians. I never understood the whole concept of knocking on strangers doors and asking for sweets, when I’d been told for years not to do exactly that… but I did want to join in the fun with my friends. First and only time I dressed up was at uni the first time, the Halloween Bash - I went as Catwoman, because I got to wear the sexiest hooker heels and it came with a whip to use on the annoying. Now, my daughter can dress up for school, but she doesn’t go trick or treating because people around here are challenged on numerous levels… she’s an Angel, so she represents the good side!
Thanks for all the love people, I really am glad FF will still go on strong! Throws a bouquet and hearts to @Feathertip
I love the TRex and all those scary slasher dinosaurs, too! I think the Jurassic Park movies gave them a bad reputation…after all, in their real time they were only trying to survive, right?
The cat-phoenix idea sounds awesome. I like Fire! She would be cuddly but would kick butt!
Sorry you had to miss out on Halloween as a kid. I always loved it when I was growing up, and as an adult I never gave it much thought beyond a kind of Octoberfest for kids. Keep them safe, not too much candy, but let 'em go play dress-up.
When we were in the UK the first time, Trick or Treating wasn’t done by any of the Brits in our area (Thetford). However, we were living in an American area and the Brit kids soon figured out we would give treats or small coins if they knocked on the door and said just about anything.
I bet that was a fun Halloween! I could never make it as an angel. I was almost always a witch or a fortune teller. I had three where I was Casper, Batgirl, and a French Maid but that was about it. My default Halloween setting as a witch from an early age! I even had a pet rubber snake, Halitosis. He stayed around my neck better than a stuffed black cat would.
Hey, free candy is free candy, especially since it was probably the good stuff!
What’s funny is how much the concept has apparently changed over time. My mom, now in her 90s, always talked about how Halloween was when she was a girl. Kids could get candy, yes, but when they yelled “Trick or treat!” it meant that whoever opened the door could request a “trick” first - mom said she would usually sing a song, a friend would tell a joke - that kind of thing. And then they’d get the candy.
Can’t imagine the reaction we’d get these days if kids were asked to do something first!
Happy Friday, lovelies! It’s that time again for some silly Friday Fun!
Let’s get to it!
Where do you want to be in an hour?
What’s your favorite sound in the world?
What can you talk about for hours, until people’s eyes glaze over?
Name something that you tried once, and knew immediately that it wasn’t for you?
What’s your favorite part of your personal practice?
Here are my answers:
I hope to be on the road, to get to the icky home improvement store for some more paint! I’m in the middle of the never-ending paint-the-upstairs project!
This might sound weird, but I love the sound of geese flying overhead, when they’re in their V-formation and in constant communication. I like to see them, but even when I hear them from a distance, I will stop in my tracks to listen to them. The most calming, natural sound in the world to me.
Heh - image transfers! Doesn’t everyone want to hear about image transfers?!? Of course they do! You can do an image transfer with your own photos or just about anything else. I like to transfer my photos onto wood panels that I’ve painted over with acrylics:
You can do so! many! things! On so! many! surfaces! Ready to run away yet? I’ll shut up and move on. Aren’t you relieved?
I’ll have to say smoking. I dated someone who was a regular smoker and, after awhile, I reached for one myself. It about gagged me! After that, I developed a distaste for being around cigarette smoke, when before it didn’t particularly bother me. We didn’t stay together, either…
My favorite part of my practice is using Lenormand cards for divination. I think it’s partly because they get me to do something every day that’s introspective and thought-provoking. They’re so approachable and the deck designs can be so gorgeous. I like that so much can be done with a deck of 36! This winter, when I’m indoors a lot more than I am now, I hope to really settle in and take them to the next level.
I will be at the optometrist’s. Do I want to be? It won’t hurt or freak me out. I’ll be happy to get it done. I accept.
Did you know that a hug has a sound? There is the low echo of the air in close proximity, the rustle of fabric, and a low hum as air is pressed from lungs.
I’m more of a listener. I’ll let you talk until it gets too repetitive. Then I’ll go write about my experiences and what I have learned until my hand cramps. Does that count?
Crab legs. Talk about playing with your food! I get tired of picking long before my stomach gets full! Yet the flavor is good.
At the moment, forgiveness for when real life encroaches.
Oops. Gotta go. My driver is on the way. Early day!
Relaxing at home…
Yesterday this time I was giving a friend and her sister I ride I had no idea about in the morning, it was lovely but exhausting, now I’m just chillin home with a party drink
Is this one of those “one hand clapping” things?
Okay, this is a bit nsfw, but moans of pleasure Especially if it’s in response to something I’m doing
Shadow work, birth charts, synchronicities, sex, death… my Pluto in Scorpio in Midheaven and all the planets in the 8th house are showing
I’ll go for sitting in my recliner, sipping a mug of tea and doing a crossword. I’m retired, I can do what the heck I want
It used to be when I walked into the barn and heard the horses munching on their hay. The sound, combined with the warm smell of horses and hay was heaven to me.
Now I enjoy listening to the wind in the trees, and when the local ice cream vendor comes around, playing music, I feel compelled to dance around like I did when I was a kid in England and the Tonibell man did his rounds.
Nothing I can think of. I’m more of a listener. When I do talk, I keep it short.
Skiing. Tried it once and spent most of the day sliding down the hill on my backside.
Before this week, I would have said my daily devotional and meditations, but this week, since getting my new tarot deck, I’m really enjoying working with the tarot.
I don’t think I knew that! But I’ll be listening for it from now on.
Sure it counts! And here I thought we would be regaled by stories about Argus, and all of your feathered friends from yesteryear. I’ve read where you mentioned birds are the perfect pets!
haha!! I like them, too, but agree they are about the messiest things to eat!
I hope your appointment went well.
I think this sounds wonderful!
Nope, no zen koans here, I promise! …well, for now I promise. I think your choice of favorite sounds is meaningful and intimate - nothing wrong with that!
Wow! That’s an impressive list! You must have a lot of knowledge you’re willing to share - I think that’s fabulous!
We all have our own interpretations of that. I think you’re doing fine!
I love my moments of connection, too! I think it’s a huge part of the draw for many of us!
Cheers to that! Retirement is a special kind of freedom!
That sounds so wonderful! Must be a very special memory from childhood to hold that music so close.
Being a good listener is what some of us babblers love to have around! That is, until they beg us to stop.
I’m with you on the skiing - I tried both snow and water skiing. I learned it can be just as painful to fall into still water as a snowy hillside, with the added bonus of a snort of water up the nose.
I’ll have to visit the tarot thread and see the new deck!
Umm, getting ready to go to bed and wind down my night.
Honestly? The first thing that came to my mind was the Dun Dun sound from Law and Order. LOL!
Fanfiction theories, probably. How Dumbledore is secretly a Dark Lord, and certain characters who I call woobies aren’t allowed to grow on their shows just because they are the whipping characters who are always the ones in trouble. How Tony should have had a backup of JARVIS, and did Wanda make him forget it because she hated him? Why did Starfleet let Kirk still stay in the command chair of the Enterprise after so long? Things like that.
High heels. I tried them and gave up very quickly.
Part of my practice is learning something new, so I will find a short or a short video on YouTube to watch during my rituals. I find a lot of interesting things there.
I don’t know a lot of fanfiction theories, but… isn’t James T. Kirk considered a legendary captain? Why wouldn’t StarFleet let him remain in the chair?
Hear hear! I stumbled around in a pair or two when I had to dress in business attire at work - soon I discovered the joys of the 1" heel and flats. Heels are bad!!!
I think I should watch more on YouTube. I keep reading here about how many good ones are over there.
In the last couple of films, they were not the most … athletically able. To be running around prison planets and getting into fights. LOL!
I find a lot of good stuff on YouTube. And sometimes just silly stuff. I watch that more than Netflix or anything else. I love watching Sovereign Citizens get arrested by cops, usually by getting their windows broken by not listening to the police. I’m listening to The MOST Famous Witches in History Explained - An In-Depth Documentary right now, it’s getting good. I’m up to Baba Yaga. And there are book reviews! Which leads me to having even more books on my Wish List, but that’s how it goes. And then there’s Cryptid and myths videos, Urban Legends, that sort of stuff. And of course, music. All sorts of good things! Let me know if you want a few channels to start you out with, and then you can dive down the rabbit hole yourself!
Where do you want to be in an hour?
At our favorite Chines restaurant. It’s Chinese time!
What’s your favorite sound in the world?
I think I have several. 80’s music. A fireworks mortar thumping. Taking off in an airplane (if I am the pilot - not so much otherwise),
What can you talk about for hours, until people’s eyes glaze over?
Again… several things. Airplanes, fireworks, cards, history
Name something that you tried once, and knew immediately that it wasn’t for you?
Sweet meats. (organ meats, brains, etc)
What’s your favorite part of your personal practice?
Other than actually practicing it, making stuff for it. For my practice, the time after I close a spell and feel great about it.
