- Well I’m a Brit at heart, so I have to say fish and chips, although living in Texas, I don’t actually get to eat that very often. I pretty much love anything fried - shrimp, fish, chicken, french fries/hashbrowns, fried eggs and bacon for breakfast….
- Spring is pretty much here in Texas. Although we are expecting some cooler nights this weekend, daytime temps are in the 70s/80s and the garden in springing back to life (especially the weeds)
- Another vote for the earthworm.
- yes - Eric still talks about the time he drove us around Lake Tahoe, and I spent the whole drive leaning away from the sheer drop on my side of the car and clinging to his seat. It wouldn’t have been nearly so bad if we had been going the other direction, as I would have been on the “safe side”.
- I had a yoyo, but didn’t bother learning tricks with it, I didn’t really see the point.
Yum!! Really hard to beat fried chicken, isn’t it? ![]()
Elephants are wonderful. ![]()
![]()
You sound like me!
Oh, it sounds lovely! You must be ahead of us in the US Midwest. We have buds starting to form, but no leaves at all. Snow mixing with rain depending on the temps!
This is perfect, actually. I love finding earthworms! They do so much. ![]()
Heehee! You’re wise to keep yourself planted!
Oh! If I could get the fish and chips from England (I even know where to go) I would definitely add that. Also, duh, I forgot bacon and eggs.
You know, I’ve never used one - they’re supposedly a much healthier option for that flavor profile.
Sounds more like Michigan, as well! We’re still in the taunting phase. ![]()
What - no dogs? ![]()
Whew! Even back in my immortal days, I don’t think I could have done that!
Same here! ![]()
Yeah, baby! Bring on the hot salty grease! ![]()
Ah, you’re being taunted, too!
Agreed. Being inside a tall building feels perfectly safe. I like to stand close to a big window and look out and down - no fear!
Better than what I could ever do!
I had some while in London last summer - a classic!
Yes - this is actually a lovely time of year down there. Not too hot yet and the bugs aren’t out in full force!
![]()
Yeah, it’s cool to watch other people do tricks but just wasn’t my thing.

- What’s your favorite fried food?
- How close is Spring in your part of the world?
- What animal best represents the Earth to you?
- Are you afraid of heights?
- Have you ever had a yoyo? If so, could you “walk the dog?”
Oh my. Fried food is one of my comfort foods. I’d have to say jalapeño poppers. My best friend’s husband makes the most amazing and absolutely melt in your mouth poppers!
Spring is already here in Southern California. The birds are singing, the pollen and my allergies are out of control, the bees are collecting goodies from my Japanese camelia bush, the cats (and Loki) are in heat, and we are in the middle of a heat wave!
Turtles of course! To me, they are the living symbol of Mother Earth herself. Turtle energy represents patience, longevity, protection, steady progress, and ancient memory. Fun fact, in indigenous traditions, the earth itself is called Turtle Island.
Extremely!!!
I’ve had many yoyos in my lifetime, but I never could get them to do what I wanted them to do lol. I never mastered “walk the dog.” The yoyo walked me!

I’ll re-post this week’s list here:
Did you ride a bike when you were a kid? If so, what did you name it?
Yes I think I had two one was bright pink when I was in elementary school and then I switched to a sky blue bike with pink writing on it for middle school![]()
What’s your most prized possession and why?
So I’m obsessed with my dog Luna, she is my soul baby but I wouldn’t classify her as a possession so I would say any of my paintings, drawing basically any art work of her. I have several, a pic of her as a puppy, a diary drawing of her, a diamond dot photo of her and an oil painting of her as the Mona Lisa which in my house is called the Luna Lisa ![]()
![]()
I would also say my ring collection is one of my prized possessions, I love rings!
How do you enjoy spending your “me” time?
Me time used to be scrolling on TikTok but since starting this journey I spend it researching, doing spells, reading, writing in my grimoire and trying to be more creative with crafts and hobbies!
What animal best represents serenity to you?
Hmmm a white dove is the animal that first come to mind for serenity.
What’s your favorite kind of rice
I like jasmine rice the best but honestly all rice is amazing!
Yes. So do birds and cats.
Update on local flora: crabapples and plums are in full bloom, now. I saw a bushed- in yard full of jonquils in full bloom. Near my driver’s place, there is a forsythia popping out. The elms have started confetti-ing the ground with their seeds, though they seem to be the limit of the green in trees at the moment. Nearby bushes are beginning to get leaf buds. Iris leaves are up in the courtyard, and the three rose bushes have leaves, but they may have stayed green thanks to being protected by the building. I was able to chat with a pair of finches while unloading groceries, this evening: they looked at me as though I were strange, but stuck around. Tree allergy season has begun. Cabbage moths are flying around quite a bit already, crossing my path quite often! Then again, my driver’s grandson found what he called a hawk moth for President’s Day last month and was sharing with me, in full knowledge that it was too early for the poor creature to survive long.
April Fools! People out on the roads are acting like it’s full moon, tonight!

What’s your favorite fried food?
Hmmm this is hard. I love fried food but ever since I had my gallbladder removed I can’t really eat it. I would say either French fries
or mozzarella sticks ! -
How close is Spring in your part of the world?
Very close! I can’t wait for spring! We had a taste of it this week, 2-3 days of gorgeous weather and I loved it and then it started snowing again! I am hoping the spring comes fast! -
What animal best represents the Earth to you?
A fox!
I’ve always loved foxes and I always think of the fox when I think of earth and greenery! -
Are you afraid of heights?
No but there are certain activities I wouldn’t do, for example bungee jumping or sky diving. I don’t mind heights but free falling is not for me -
Have you ever had a yoyo? If so, could you “walk the dog?”
Yes I had a few yoyos in the past but I was never good at it lol so no walking the dog for me
[/quote]
Oh, that’s a good one, sis! When someone who knows what they’re doing hands you a jalapeño popper, you say thank you and grab it! ![]()
Oh dear - already? I heard there was a heat dome building out west - sorry you’re underneath it! The rest of it sounds wonderful, though! I can’t wait to see the bees out again! ![]()
I’ve read this - isn’t that beautiful? Who doesn’t love a turtle? ![]()
![]()
Hi Marissa! Both your bikes sound beautiful. I always wished for a pink bike when I was a kid.
That’s so sweet! You must be so talented to have so much artwork dedicated to her. I hope you share it with us in the Art forum here! ![]()
A wonderful choice - their cooing is so soft and soothing, isn’t it? ![]()
Gah! Add that to my list. And fried calamari. Dang… my list is getting longer. Maybe we do fried stuff more than I thought.
Dogs like to do that, too. ![]()
Don’t forget fried rice!
- What’s your favourite fried food?
I live about 40 minutes away from the coast and at the start of the season we take our dogs to the beach and there is nothing better than seeing our dogs playing in the sea, chasing the birds, really enjoying themselves. and eating Traditional
& Chips, feeling the sea breeze and the salty air.
- How close is Spring in your part of the world?
Recently the weather in the UK has warmed up the birds are singing at 5.00 am, my Koi Fish are looking for food and daffodils
are flowering along sides of grass verges. However, it has turned colder again but it looks like spring is here as the grass is growing and buds are forming on my Japanese Acre Trees![]()
- What animal best represents the Earth to you?
This is difficult everything that lives and forms our Mother Earth as everything is dependent upon each other for us to all exist and survive. I feel that Bees
and other pollinators are crucial.
- Are you afraid of heights?
I don’t particularly like heights if I need to go up a ladder I will and flying to get to a destination but I will not be rock climbing or bungee jumping. It must be liberating not having this fear.
- Have you ever had a yoyo? If so, could you “walk the dog?”
I do recall having one but never really played with it. I was always out with my two best friends on our Roller Skates they were quite dangerous as they did not have stoppers. I attach a google photograph of ones that I had
Happy Saturday everyone ![]()
I also get at the coast freshly fried sugar ring
they are so good I end up getting a dozen lovely and hot and they have a taste of their own. The dogs also get treated to a Jumbo Sausage each Looking forward to going to the coast in April
Honey is so good
I love the sound of buzzing
I know in the UK numbers have declined I am going to plant more species for the humble ![]()
Blessed be ![]()

I would kill for some good fish and chips that aren’t Captain D’s or Long John’s. And I’m not British!
Yeppers, right now I can see just two or three leaves starting to bud out my window. Itty bitty leaves.
I love going up and down glass elevators! Well, I used to. I haven’t done it in ages. I’ve seen The Towering Inferno a few times since then so I may have changed my mind!
Nice choice! And in Stephen King and Terry Pratchett books, the Universe or World is a turtle? I think. But that’s very interesting to me.
We had a small place near the Thetford Forest. The world came alive at daybreak. It was remarkable how a forest of birds can be so noisy.. Loud… really loud.
I would even go for Long John Silvers but they have closed them all down around us - I have no idea where the closest one is.
I don’t know about that - I can remember times in downtown Houston where we could feel the building moving in the wind. And while I could look out the 44th floor window of our office, looking down to the ground made me queazy
Another vote for fish and chips! It’s definitely a treat when done the UK way!
I love this! We’re being cautioned/warned a lot these days to care for all our pollinators, especially our honey bees! ![]()
Yeah, no bungee jumping for me, either! Or skydiving! I just can’t envision putting myself in deliberate danger for a thrill. Heights are to be navigated - with caution! We’re humans, not nimble mountain goats or birds! ![]()
Love the photo of your roller skates! ![]()
Terry Pratchett! He wrote a series in which the world was referred to as “Disc World” - where the world is flat and carried by elephants, who are standing on the back of a gigantic space turtle.
It all makes perfect sense! ![]()
Discworld! It’s a happening place. ![]()
Omg, yes!! I had similar ones…
and of course no helmet. The things we survived as kids…![]()
I´ve had it only one time, as I visited London in a pub. It really was delicious but soooo greasy!!
Well, I´m living in the middle of a big city and there are blackbirds in a little park around the corner. Every day with the first ray of light they are completely freaking out and screaming from the top of their little lungs. ![]()
I love his books! Especially the one about the witches Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg are just the best!!
I have stopped using outdoor up lights as I learned that artificial light disorientates
and other pollinators from finding their food. I know that it just my home but the outside is their home and if in some way I can help more then I must.
When I got married in Zakynthos, Greece we visited a nesting monitoring and rehabilitation centre for the Caretta Loggerhead Turtles and witnessed some being released back into the ocean. I was very emotional watching them making their way back to the sea their nesting site is even shaped like a Turtle and is called Turtle Island
.
Yes the roller skates no helmets I have a few scars but it was so much fun.
I have never been to Thetford Forest as it is quite a distance from me the nearest one I have visited was Sherwood Forest
it feel magical
I am enjoying everyone’s posts ![]()
Blessings ![]()
