Getting to know my new Tarot deck

So tonight I decided to get to know my new tarot deck-- the Marigold deck based on the Rider-Waite Smith style of cards. I did that with other deck and it really helped. I’m kinda strange and like to name them, I find it really helps me to connect. I found a site that actually had very good questions to ask in a 5 card spread that I have done with both decks now.

that’s the link I used. I didn’t do the order that she provided-- I cleansed the deck first, meditated and then did the spread. No particular way of laying the cards down, just put them on them the cloth and did the reading.

With this this deck, I got the name of Cornelia. The card I got was page of Wands reversed. For me the word stubborn came to mind and I looked up names that had that meaning. The name Cornelia came stuck out strongly. Thus Marigold became Cornelia.

I would really suggest this reading if you want to connect to your deck.

Blessed Be!

Cleanse with Smoke, Cultivate Calmness, then Ground, Center, and Anchor.

Now that a firm connection has been established between deepest Earth and highest Heaven allow yourself to sit or stand with the cards in your hand. Ask the deck of cards the following questions:

  • What is your name?
  • What do I need to know in order to best take care of you?
  • What blessing do you have for me?
  • What blessing will you help me bring to others?
  • Is there anything else I need to know at this time?

Wishing a warm welcome to your Cornelia deck- it’s a beautiful name and I’m sure the deck appreciates the time and care you took to connect! :flower_playing_cards:

May you continue to work well with Cornelia going forward- wishing many wonderful readings to you! :sparkles:

I’ve done a few different deck introduction spreads but never this one. I’m gonna bookmark this one for the future if and when I get a new deck! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I don’t think this is strange at all! You’d be surprised at how many people actually name their tarot and oracle decks. They either give them names based on their introduction or the deck gives the reader their name. I’ve got a friend who has a name for each of their decks  you’re not alone!

That actually is helpful knowing that. I feel it’s something that just helps me connect. I did it with the first deck. And now this one. I like being able to refer the deck with its name— ‘today I will work with Elmira’ kind of thing.

Thanks for letting me know

Yeah, of course! It’s not uncommon for people to name their tools, tarot decks included  I don’t personally name my decks but you’re definitely not alone!
