@tracyS Glad to hear you found your angels and demon!
@MeganB No, I completely get the meaning, and I see it in the image. What confuses me is that in the other suits, the 10 is positiveâŚyou get through the struggle to a positive end, except with swords. So this would suggest that no matter what area of life youâre in, every time you complete an air cycle it ends up with you at rock bottom. If all the other 10s were negative I might get it, but theyâre notâŚI think thatâs why the 10 Swords in the Age of Aquarius deck appealed to me, because it feels like a more positive end to a cycle.
@dan3@Artemisia I know some people find them difficult, but I donâtâŚit seems I havenât explained myself very well ugh lol. Love the comparisons, fascinating that some prove my point lol!
I read Oracle Cards and Runes, still learning Tarot, but I do see what you mean. The one deck is softer to the eye and more appealing. The other deck is more traditional and a little angrier to the eye.
Thatâs one of the reasons why I like Oracle Cards a little better because the reader gets to use their intuition a little bit more to interpret the Cards.
Now THAT is fascinating! It just doesnât look or feel positive to me, even though I get the hope intended in the card⌠I mean the guy literally has swords coming out of his back, it just doesnât bode well to my eyes
@anon59397935 Hi there, nice to virtually meet you! I also love Oracle cards, and witchâs runes, I find Oracle cards softer than tarot. And yes, the traditional version is angrier, it feels like the cycle itself isnât complete if it always ends negatively.
I finally got around to comparing my favourite cards:
@Nikki-Phoenix itâs so nice to meet you love! I completely feel the same way about Oracle Cards and Tarot Cards! Thereâs no better way to describe the difference between the two! I also love that as a reader, I can use my intuition to read the cards and that one card can have two different meanings for two different people depending on their situation!
Your decks are beautiful by the way! I get great Energy from you!
I suppose my perspective comes from looking at the progression of swords throughout the suit. The first one is generally seen as positive, but as time goes on, the swords get progressively âheavierâ. In the Seven of Swords, the person has embraced the swords, making the choice to take swords from other people to carry as many as they can. They know that the swords wonât stop coming, so if they get as many as they can, they wonât be caught off guard when another one shows up.
The Nine of Swords is the anxiety and fear, knowing that thereâs only so much they can take and that another sword is likely on its way. The Ten of Swords, however gruesome in appearance, is the release that comes from knowing that thereâs nothing left to come for them.
Itâs also interesting to note that, from my perspective, not every art style for the Ten of Swords depicts a death. For example, here are the Ten of Swords cards from several different decks.
The top row shows the following decks from left to right: Hanson-Roberts Tarot, The This Might Hurt Tarot, & Somnia Tarot. The bottom row shows, from left to right, Shadowscapes Tarot and The Traditional Manga Tarot.
Out of these five, only two show a true depiction of blood, while one is implied, and the other two are symbolic.
Thereâs also more symbolism that I pick up on in the card. In the original RWS deck, the person is lying on the ground facing away from the viewer. They look out toward a flowing river with mountains and a potential sunrise in the distance. To me, this symbolizes renewal and hope for the future.
I think my perspective also comes from looking at the cycles as just that, rather than a positive or negative ending. The ending just is. Each suit has its own story to tell based on the element and associations with said suit. Each story also has its own ending based on the same concepts.
Cups lead to emotional fulfillment.
Wands lead to burnout.
Pentacles lead to a stable foundation.
Swords lead to a dead end.
Anyway, thatâs just how I see them. I figured Iâd explain my perspective a bit.
And also, just as a general note, my way isnât the ârightâ way, either. I know most everyone is going to understand that, but I feel like I should make it clear that Iâm not offering a correction, just a different perspective
I think thatâs the hidden beauty of divination and I totally agree, and thank you! I love your energy, so vibrant and bright so glad you found your way here!
Personally, I donât think any way is the ârightâ way, except for the person whoâs doing it Iâm glad you shared your perspective, itâs one Iâve not heard before!
This was my original point - how certain cards feel and read differently across the different decks. I probably should have shared my perspective in the original post, but better late than never!
I also see each of the 5 suits as a progression, a series of stages within that dimension which apply to every situation in our lives. Regardless of whether the situation is about work, love, career, etc., there are cycles through which we progress in each dimension: Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit (the Major Arcana). In any given situation, the cards will tell you what stage youâre at within that cycle, from the start of the situation to itâs conclusion.
I call the MA the Bosses suit, because those are the spirit/soul lessons you canât mess with, they must be learned and the situation will keep repeating in various ways until we learn. The minor arcana I see slightly differently to you, I see them all (almost) following the same basic pattern: always starts out great (if you like new beginnings lol), there are good times and varying challenges to overcome throughout the cycle, and the ending is positive - not always great, but usually positive. For me:
Spirit ends with the World - doesnât really get more positive for me.
Cups ends with emotional fulfillment = positive ending.
Wands ends with successfully completing all actions required, which can be harder than normal because our human instinct is often to just do things ourselves, but it gets done = positive ending.
Pentacles lead to a stable material foundation, although one must take care to value people more than material things (the couple in 10 pentacles arenât looking at each other, the child or their elder).
Swords - no matter the situation, it will end with the mind literally battering the body? Not very positive.
Iâve never heard that interpretation before, itâs fascinating! When I or my clients get 7 Swords, to me it indicates that the client is either stealing someone elseâs ideas/thoughts, or (usually) itâs a warning to be on guard because someone is going to steal their ideas. Not all of their ideas (2 swords left behind) but something significant to the client.
I see the 9 Swords as the client being trapped and bound by their thoughts, not realising that they can free themselves if they step out of that line of swords. The literal barrier between them and mind safety/security (the house) isnât a barrier if they get out of that pattern - if they step out of line then they see the path home.
Yeah to me that sounds dreary lol, sorry! Itâs like saying no matter what situation you face, when it comes to thoughts and ideas, they will always wear you down to the lowest point. As opposed to other variations which indicate a more positive resolution to this cycle.
I also see the symbolism in a different way, this is so cool! I think this person is laying face-down, I think the horizontal C in the hair is actually an ear; just like the 4 or 5 of cups, for example, they canât see any hope because theyâre more focused (in this case) on the thoughts that have taken them to the worst possible place. They canât see the water, calm and serene with not a wave in sight, they canât see the sky with 3 different colours; black for the distress of now, grey for the period they will fight through their thoughts, and yellow for the bright new dawn that awaits. They canât see the scenery in the distance, barely any hills indicating their struggles and obstacles are behind them. They canât see any of that because they are impaled on the floor lol.
As Iâve said I donât struggle with the Swords, but I think they seem heavy to some people because it deals with the mind, and there is no bigger trap on the planet than oneâs mind, not to mention thereâs still so much about it we donât know!
You have beautiful Energy too! Thatâs the first thing I noticed about you actually was your gorgeous Energy! I wanted to pair up with you in the Study Buddy Group, but I saw that you were already paired with someone. If you ever want to study together let me know! I feel and know that I could learn a lot from you!
I completely agree with you! Everyone has a different way of doing things. Everyone is unique! Thatâs why we were each created! To express ourselves! No two people are the same! Not even twins or triplets, etc.
