Amazon was bugging me about their current sale. Went over and saw a book on Hecate that was somewhat uniquely written. It starts out with Prose written as poetry and switches back and forth. I’m usually not a fan but I’m about 1/4 through and it is really interesting.
It includes all the Titan/Olympian crew and is like an historical coming of age novel. Easy to read with a good plot, etc. Best of all, it is only a few dollars (overall rating of 4.6). Click link to the Kindle story below.
That quote is using the Prose as Poetry that I mentioned. They are the thoughts of the child Hecate, a war orphan, I usually am not a fan but the author does a great job of making things relevant. Hecate has both dark and light and both are being seeded.
I read a quarter of the book in my first read. There are many pages that could be quoted. Lots of skill needed to make it so readable. .
I finished the book today. It was about what I described it to be (historical fiction mixed with coming of age). It ended with Hecate… nah… won’t spoil it. It is worth the read - it isn’t like studying but in the process of reading you bump into the personalities/weaknesses of the Pantheon. One part reminded me of The Battle of the Pelennor Fields from The Lord of the RIngs (not the movie - The Return of the King) and Aragorn’s actions.
Gil does a fantastic job of writing it. I give it 10/10. She also does an audible one where she narrates. I only listened to the intro but she does a great job.
It looks like the book is going to be part of a trilogy although this one is the only one out right now. The next one is about Styx.
