Hello, everyone! My name is Monica, and I’m happy to be joining the Spells8 community!
I’m a beginner interested in learning about witchcraft and Wicca and bringing that learning into my daily life. I’m excited to explore meditation, spells, moon cycles, and ways to connect with nature and my spiritual path.
There’s so much to learn, and I’m taking it one step at a time with an open heart and a curious mind. I look forward to meeting others, hearing about your experiences, and growing alongside this community.
If you could share one piece of advice with a beginner, I’d love to hear it!
Hello and welcome. I’m Tracy from England. I follow the Northern Tradition which is the Norse gods (Loki mainly), and Runes. I also practice demonolatry.
One piece of advice, start where you love most, if that’s tarot start there, if it’s connecting with gods, start there, if it’s lighting candles start there - there is no wrong way.
Hi @monica9 and welcome! We are glad you are here with us. As you have probably discovered, Spells8 is a large site, with tons of resources.
I agree with @TricksterShaman - begin with what interests you most. And if you aren’t sure where your interests lie yet, visit the lessons page to see what takes your fancy. You really can’t go wrong.
Feel free to jump into any conversation here in the forum that interests you. And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Hi, @monica9! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum!
It’s nice to meet you! I think the one bit of information I wish I had known when I started out, is to hold off on buying altar items till you know what you’ll use. Not everyone uses an athame, or they use a coffee cup instead of a goblet. Things like that. Stick to the basics till you know for sure what you’ll want. White candles are always great though, they work for everything!
But yeah, hold off on buying expensive stuff. Dollar Stores and thrift stores are great places to look though! You can find lots of great stuff there, including seasonal items to decorate with! Plus, Kindle Unlimited is a great way to read witchy books without spending a lot of money! That way you can save money until you figure out what you want to invest in!
Good luck and I look forward to getting to know you!
Hello @monica9 nice to meet you and many thanks for sharing about yourself.
I’m from Melbourne, Australia my name is Sharon, and my Witch’s name is Moonstruck.
I’m an Eclectic Witch as I Like to study many forms of Witchcraft -Folk Magick-Rituals, spell work, Deities, Salt water, Shells and my Heritage is from the Celtic, Scottish regions and, although I haven’t been practicing for very long, I’ve always felt a strong connection to my ancestors and the world around me.
My practice currently consists of maintaining an altar dedicated to my ancestors, along with various rituals and spiritual workings.
I’ve recently started creating my Book of Shadows (BOS) and journaling my experiences and discoveries.
My interests include my Family and Grandchildren, researching my ancestry tree, tarot reading, animal spirits, sigil creation, and learning how to make poppets. I’m also researching and crafting my own runes based on the Elder Futhark alphabet.
There are so many wonderful resources and courses available on Spells8, and I’m enjoying learning as much as I can along the way.
Everyone here on the forum/coven and spellls8 are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I look forward to reading your posts and learning more about.
Blessed Be,
Moonstruck

Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, an Eclectic Witch and one of the moderators. Just wanted to pop by and say hi - it’s very nice to meet you!
Others have kindly shared some very wise advise. If I can add something else to the table, I’d encourage you to ask questions. If there’s something you’re unsure about, can’t find, or just want a second opinion about, feel free to ask away! The coven community with its diverse knowledge and wisdom is, in my opinion, the best resource of all
Make yourself at home here, Monica! Happy studies and blessed be
Welcome to the community, Monica! It’s wonderful to have you here. I love that you’re taking it one step at a time—meditation and connecting with nature are such beautiful places to start. Jump right in and enjoy the journey! Blessed be!
A little goes a long way. That corresponds to buying as well as casting. Do only as much as will get the job done, but learn much more. As a beginner, it sounds more difficult than it is. You’ll get the hang of it as you go.
Making mistakes is part of the learning process, so don’t be afraid summoning a lemon. There is fun and laughter in these belief systems- yes, there is more than one system, here. If you make a mistake, take something from it like a lesson for your BoS, thank it, and try again. This was what I found most useful when I was starting out- before all the stuff n stuff was available. Since others have already offered great advice, I thought I’d offer something older. Hope it helps you like it did for me.
I’m looking forward to learning from and with you!
Welcome @monica9, I’m Lisa, an Electic witch.
I Just changed my user name from Lisa5 to Muirgheal_Wylie. My family surname of Celtic origins and Celtic keeper of the Elements.
What I’d like to share with you is:
"Trust your intuition and never stop learning.
Spend time in nature, connect with the elements, and follow what speaks to your soul.
Explore, grow, and develop your own path.
The most powerful part of your craft comes from within you.”
This is a great community. I’m new here, but not new to the craft. I’m always learning.
Of course, lovely! Take your time, start studying the things that speak loudest to you first, and enjoy your journey. (Okay, so that’s technically three pieces of advice, but it kind of flows together, right?)
I’m Feathertip, from SE Michigan, and a lifelong Pagan. My practice is very Nature-based, working in the garden, growing herbs and supporting pollinators, and welcoming all critters. I practice yogic meditation and use Lenormand cards for divination.
Have fun being here - this is the best Coven community ever. Looking forward to seeing you around and getting to know you.
