My name is Jenna, I’m 40 and I currently live in Illinois.
I have always felt a strong connection with nature and my intuition. I found myself checking out Wicca books from the library (covertly) and watched/read anything and everything having to do with witches, from a very young age. But it seemed the older I got, the more I lost touch with that part of me. I married the wrong person when I was 20 and my authentic/higher self seemed to go more and more dormant the longer I was with him. He would have endlessly made fun of me and questioned my sanity for being into anything spiritual.
Now I am divorced and living on my own with my son, and I am enjoying exploring my spirituality again. It began with tarot. It was more of a random curiosity after seeing a beautiful deck, but quickly became something deeper. I found that as I practiced tarot, I became more in touch with my intuition. I also met my best friend a couple years ago. He is a very spiritual person and helped further draw out that side of me, which I had kept hidden for so long.
I only very recently started exploring witchcraft again and wasn’t really sure where to start. I did one spell about 6 months ago (a cord cutting ritual) to try to sever a connection with a toxic person I had dated, but I had no idea what I was doing. It did seem to work though . I have read a few books so far, explored many websites, and bought some supplies to get me started (gemstones, candles, etc.) but I have been overwhelmed with the all the information out there. I don’t even have a proper Book of Shadows yet–just a journal I record my tarot readings in along with random spells I think might be useful.
Clearly I have a lot to learn and I’m looking forward to being a part of this community.
Welcome and merry meet, Jenna. You have certainly come to the right place! I’m Jayne, a baby witch living in Texas. I’ve been here since November and have learned so much, both on the Spells 8 website and here in the forum. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Welcome welcome @SerenFox I’m Hazel, I consider myself an Eclectic witch but I also work with the moon, divination & the elements, I’m not very big on labels. You’ll also notice I use a lot of bright colors and a lot of emojis (clearly I’m a visual person lol)
Anyway! I can really identify & relate to a lot of what is mentioned in your introduction, so I really do understand. But I promise you, you found the BEST place to begin diving deeper into your spiritual & witchy jjourney & ways. Anything and everything you want to know I promise you someone here will be able to help, and the best part is they are genuinely happy to do so Don’t stress so much on the things your “supposed” to have. Shoot alI I had for like a good 2 to 3 years was an unorganized notebook for allllll my divination, my spells, my correspondences, lunar magic and so on Just continue to follow your intuition, follow your heart, continue to research and learn and then I believe all that other stuff will just fall into place (thanks Universe 🫶🏼)
Glad you have you here
Sending light love & blessings your way

I’m Di. I’m brand new to witchcraft in general, beginning my journey into Norse Paganism, but have also found this wonderful coven! There is so much information here and so many helpful awesome people. Glad you’re here!
Greetings Jenna, we’re so glad you found your way here! I can also relate to a lot of your experiences, as do many others I’m sure, so you’re definitely in the right place.
I’m Nikki, an Eclectic Wiccan from England, also fairly new to the site… I’ve only been here for 2 months but already it feels kinda like home. Everyone here is extremely knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and extremely awesome… seriously, you’ll see lol.
Now that you’ve found your path, learn from me and don’t be in such a hurry to get to your destination… take the time to enjoy your journey. Do what you want, how you want, when you want and why you want, try not to compare yourself to others… easier said than done!
If you don’t have an altar yet (many don’t), you might find the virtual altar useful.
It totally works, I used it to cast a protection spell, then I was in a minor traffic accident which could’ve been soooo much worse… trust in your powers and intentions, and the Universe takes care of the rest!

I’m Georgia in New Mexico. I’ve been studying since 1990; been with the forum a year and 4 months.
That’s a good start at a BOS.
Take your time. Relax into it. You’re doing well so far.
If it helps, get certificates on lessons included here
A tip to help get around the 5 minute wait between posts: if you have several people you want to talk to, put them all in one post by typing the @ sign. A list of possible names comes up so you don’t have to type out the whole name. If you don’t find the one you want, type the first letter or two. An added benefit is the person you mention this way gets an email sent to them!
I appreciate the welcome! I am loving it here so far. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. I was going through the Spell8 website and it was exactly what I have been hoping to find. Thank you.
My name is Kat, and I’ve been practicing the craft for over 30 years. My practice is rooted in a blend of nature magick, green magick, and elements of hedgecraft. I work closely with the natural world, drawing inspiration from plant spirits, animal spirits, and liminal spaces. My interests include herbalism, gardening, and divinatory practices like tarot, throwing bones, and Lenormand.
There is a wonderful search function that will help you dig for more information in the forums!
We’re glad to have you here. Make yourself comfortable, explore, and feel free to ask questions!
Welcome! I’m Dan and I’m still leaning a lot but have really enjoyed Spells8. I’m sure you will, too. They are very welcoming and post some intriguing stuff. Enjoy!
@Nikki-Phoenix Thanks! As am I. I’m loving it here so far. I appreciate the advice. I will take my time then. I’m really enjoying the journey so far and looking forward to more. I do have an altar. It’s a wooden chest with a lotus flower on it. I’ve had it forever and thought it would be perfect repurposed as an altar. Especially since the lotus flower has become a significant symbol for me, similar in meaning to the phoenix. I’m so glad you were ok in your traffic accident. I just bought a gemstone pendant that I plan on making into an amulet for the purpose of protection. I also got one for my best friend. Blessed be to you as well.
@Mystique Thank you! I’m glad to be here. Can you explain what chaos magick is? I keep seeing it mentioned here and I’m not familiar but very curious. I’ve started the courses on Spell8 and I’m loving this forum so much. I am so grateful I found this space.
@BryWisteria It’s very nice to meet you too I really like that approach to letting things unfold naturally as they flow. I appreciate your insight. I appreciate your welcome.
@georgia Nice to meet you Georgia. I appreciate the welcome and the tips. I am very much enjoying it here so far. So glad this space exists and that I happened to find it!
@Artemisia Nice to meet you Kat. 30 years wow. SO much experience. If you don’t mind me asking, what is hedgecraft? I haven’t heard that term before. Your practice sounds fascinating. I also practice tarot and I used to have a HUGE garden before I left my ex husband. I wish I had the space but I had to move to an apartment. Gardening made me feel so connected to nature. I really appreciate the warm welcome.
@dan3 Nice to meet you Dan. I’ve started working through the Wicca Self-Initiation Course but my ADHD is trolling me. I see a link to something else and go down another rabbit hole and another and another. But as others have said, it’s not a race and there’s no “right” way to do this. I’m trying to just enjoy the process. Loving this community so far. Thank you!
