Okayā¦New to getting a picture postedā¦Iām not sure if the picture post for everyone or just you. I donāt mind sharing it. All i know is the medallion is old, it was given to me by the only real witch I learned a lot from more than 12 years ago and she did tell me it was powerful. Any information that can be shared would be welcomed

Ok. New to me. It looks like Iām learning alongside you on this one.
I think that is Elipha Leviās The Magic Ritual Pentacle. It is likely pewter and may or may not be original - though what original means is kinda vague. Levi was an occultist in the mid 1800s and wrote āDogme et Rituel de la Haute Magieā (Dogma and Ritual of High Magic) which made him noteworthy at the time. The pentagram pictured was his making and he called it ātetragrammaton pentagram,ā
You can Google him and pick up more. I found one like it on a wholesale site but it had no price - the rest of the items with it were modestly priced.
I found it by taking your picture and brightening it and adding more contrast and then doing an image search with Google. I got quite a few hits and there are some that are very close to it - they might be in different languages (a guess).
This is a ātetragramatonā. Is one of the most powerful talimans ever. It is formed by four Hebrew letters that represent the name of God according to the Jewish sacred book.
The entire amulet is made up of several parts:
Ā· Pentagram or five-pointed star: The main image of the tetragrammaton is this star, which symbolizes balance (since it points upwards). Each of its points represents the four elements (water, fire, earth, and air) and the spirit that controls them.
⢠The āfour lettersā: Of course, the tetragrammaton includes the four letters it represents: ā××××ā.
⢠The name Adam: The letters ā×Öø×Öø×ā also appear, which are the name of Adam. They symbolize humanity as a whole.
⢠Greek and Roman symbolism: In the center, you can see the caduceus of Hermes or Mercury, the symbol of Ares or Mars, that of Saturn, Aphrodite, Venus, Zeus, or Jupiter. It also includes the letters Alpha and Omega of the Greek alphabet (representing the beginning and the end).
⢠The moon and the sun: The symbols of both stars are included in the Tetragrammaton and represent femininity and masculinity.
⢠Other symbols: In the image, you will also find symbols such as the Seal of Solomon, the Holy Grail, the flaming sword, and other symbols from the Abrahamic religions.
It is used to protect against all types of negative energies, but especially against jealousy and envy. It is also used to attract good luck, and for it to work, the starās main point must point upward.
THis one is one of my favourites talisman. If you need more information, please let me know. Iāll be happy to help
Iād say @dan3 is spot on with this one. If it truly is an original it is said to hold immense power. It will protect you and greatly enhance your spells.
Thank youā¦i saw a few doing a quick search but none were exactly like it. I will do more searching
Thank you for such detailed answers. Iām glad you could make out the smaller symbols on it. Iāve been afraid to clean it. It was given to me like it is and Iāve had it backed away. Should it be cleaned? Is it a piece to wear as a necklace? The person who gave it to me was a dear friend and taught me a lot about Wiccan ways. Thank you again for the details. Blessed Be
Do you have an old toothbrush?
A gentle cleansing solution:
Mix some baking soda with a bit of water to make a paste and rub gently with an old toothbrush. That may gently clean it without too much energy loss. To be safe, consecrate the medallion for your own use when dry.
Or
In the process, remember the dear teacher as clearly as though they were in the room with you. This connects you with their energy and you can fill the medallion with that energy by imagining the energy as light or a vibration and focusing it on or in the medallion.
My pleasure!
Tetagramaton is one of the most used amulets in Spain, along with the Witchās Knot, so Iām familiar with it.
Clean it if you feel so! If you dont to smudging it or put in under water, you may clean it with sound, or put it with a selenite. If you mean clean it physically, you can do it with a gentle silver cleanser.
Yes, is the most common way to wear it, always with the point upward.
The piece you have is really beautiful!!
Coin/pendant/jewelry cleaning is a whole wiki of issues and advice. If the coin is not of value, then cleaning it with any abrasive is ok and normal metal cleaners are fine - choose one of the less abrasive ones.
My opinion, If you want to preserve the energy that it might have, then only use soap and water. Patinas (normal discoloration due to age), have their own value. If it was a gift and is valued, my choice would be to clean it with soap and water and decide if that was good enough. If it has some tough dirt on it, then ultrasonic cleaning will get most gunk out of it and leave the metal as it was - it wonāt usually take patina off the item. Ultrasonic cleaning can be done at jewelry stores, gun shops, etc. Small ultrasonic cleaners are relatively cheap.
If preserving the energy it has gathered is questionable, then cleaning it and blessing it might be important. It is up to you. I have very old gifts/inheritances that I have treated both ways.
Excellent adviceā¦ā¦i will clean it gently and then remember my teacher as i consecrate the medallion. Thank you for including the lessons
Thank you for that information. My friend did tell me it was old and powerful. I would like to gentle clean it so i can wear it. Please give me your opinion on wearing on a regular basis.
Blessed Be
I would wear it - I routinely wear a bracelet that means something. However, to feel good about it, research what Levi described when he introduced it. He was very popular in his time so there are a lot of links when you search his name. I always want to know what I am representing. It has a lot of meaning and the meaning will help you decide.
@SpanishWitchy posted a wonderful summary to get you started.
