Hello and merry meet! :purple_heart:
Welcome to the forum!
I´m Katharina, an art-witch and art therapist from Vienna, Austria! I´m practicing magick very much through art making! I love altar craft, candle making, poppet work, spell boxes and jars and working in my Book of Shadows is a big part of my pratice. I love all things tarot and practice this art since many moons.
I started my path in my late teenage years and early twenties (I´m 52 now) and I´m still learning, because witchcraft is such a huge field and there is so much to learn, you´ll never run out of fascinating topics to explore. So, don´t feel bad, we all are learning new things at different times in our lifes.
The forum is huge and it takes time to get to know everything. The people here are very sweet and helpful, so just make yourself known if there´s any questions, someone will certainly show up to help you.

Brightest blessings! :dizzy:

Merry meet @sybil1

Please don’t feel disheartened :sparkles: I only began last year at 48, and I remember wishing the Craft had found me in my teens too :crescent_moon:. Over time, though, I’ve come to realise I simply wasn’t ready back then—the universe had other plans for me :candle::milky_way:. I’ve made peace with that now… well, most of the time :see_no_evil_monkey:

There is so much to learn, and when I first stepped onto this path I felt completely overwhelmed :dizzy:. I didn’t know where to begin, which direction to take, or what to focus on first. Then I found Spells8 :sparkles::scroll:—a true gift from the universe. Such beautiful, magical souls sharing their wisdom, guidance, and light :woman_mage::sparkling_heart:. I just kept reading, researching, and trusting the pull… and before I knew it, I was being carried on a journey through ancient and mystical mysteries :crystal_ball::herb:, with door after door opening before me :old_key::door:.

I’m still learning runes, oracle cards, and lunar cycles :full_moon::open_book:, but I’m allowing them to guide me rather than stressing about what I don’t yet know. I’ve learned to surrender to the process :cyclone::sparkles: and trust that the knowledge arrives when the time is right.

What we’ve found feels like more than a practice—it’s a calling :black_heart::fire:. A new path has revealed itself, bringing renewed hope, purpose, and a deeper connection to ourselves and the universe :crescent_moon::glowing_star:. And honestly… that kind of magic is timeless :sparkles::broom:

Blessed be :folded_hands:

Greetings from New Mexico!

Welcome @sybil1!

It is easy to feel like you want to “catch up.” There is a lot here. I’ve been here a year and 4 months, and I still haven’t found everything. Take things slow and easy so you don’t get overwhelmed.

Consider the rest as part of your path: you can’t step on the top of the mountain from the base without all the steps in between. Imagine all you’d miss if you could! There are deer in the meadow, a nine tailed fox at the edge there, a dragon or two in the caves, a unicorn in the thickets, lots of cats and dogs and birds to meet and treasures and tools to find along the way. Don’t miss a thing, or you might not have what you need once you reach your destination.

You’ll be fine. I believe in you.

Super Saturday Sybil,

Welcome to the group. Start wherever “tickles your fancy”. I started with 3 basic books and choose what spoke to me to start with. As for being an “active” witch, I just started at the end of 2024 (my daughters death was the impetus), but, I had exposure/interest since a child, but life took me in another direction. Do not feel that anything has to “right”. There is no “right” nor “wrong” in the practice. It is how you want to approach it. Everything we “do” is to become closer to our goal. Whether that includes candles, circles and chants, or just an altar box (portable) and meditation, if it works for you, it is “right”. Personally, I have a small altar (Hand stitched rim, washcloth, it was a gift, perfect for my altar, rec’d it at the right time) on my dresser, and I have a tree stump in my back yard that I use for my daily oblations. I carry my things to the tree trunk, do my “thang” and bring it all inside. I keep the candle and incense here, on my desk until they burn out. Is that “right” or “wrong”? Nahhh, that’s just how I do it. Since coming to this site, I have delved into the Tarot and Lenormand daily pulls. I find this very helpful, because it helps me stay focused on my day. I do pulls throughout the day, if I feel anxious, or like I’m “losing my way” throughout the day. It brings me back to what I need to concentrate on. Oooops, sorry, Yapping again. When you get to know me, you will realize that I either do short answers (so I don’t yap), or I seem to go into overdrive.:laughing:Lady Gene  :magic_wand:

Merry Meet, Sybil. :crescent_moon::sparkles:

I’m really glad you shared this, that feeling of wishing you’d found the path sooner is so common, and so understandable. But there’s truly nothing to “catch up” to. The Craft doesn’t measure time the way we do; it meets us exactly when we’re ready. Starting at 57 doesn’t make your journey late, it makes it ripe.

I’m Stephanie or as I’m known here, Eira of the Living Hearth, an eclectic witch from California, and I want you to know that wisdom, depth, and lived experience are powerful tools in magic. You bring all of that with you already. This space is here for learning, curiosity, and joy, not comparison or pressure.

I’m so glad you found your way here, Sybil. You belong, just as you are.
Blessed Be. :herb: :dizzy:

Welcome Sybil! You may be surprised, and find that you have in fact been doing it all along. The cystals and meditation I have done all my life now fits under the witchcraft umbrella. I always did spellwork, but had almost no knowledge of wicca or seasonal magick. Spells 8 is a wonderful resource for helping round everything out, and integrate new things.

Welcome, @sybil1 and Merry Meet! I’m Feathertip, from SE Michigan.

I do understand this- but trust me, the journey is lifelong. It’s wonderful to have you here, and since this site is so full of information and people who are glad to help, you’re going to feel much more empowered in a very short period of time. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’m a lifelong Pagan, and only within the last year have I intensified my practice. I use Lenormand cards for divination and I like to study spiritual beliefs.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum and getting to know you! :sparkles: :feather:

Hi @sybil1! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum! :infinite_roots:

Don’t worry about catching up, dear heart! It’s not a race or anything. It will all fall in place in time. Even if you had started at 17, there would be new magic and things to learn! So it’s all good!

If you have any questions about anything, just ask, and someone will pop up to give you a hand. I look forward to getting to know you!

Superb Saturday Eira, you reminded me of a quote I put on the fridge a couple days ago. (I try to put inspiration on the fridge for everyone to read, change it as I feel called to)..This one says, “When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you”–Lao Tzu…..just like the craft, do your own “thang” and it is all okay! Lady Gene :magic_wand:

Hi @sybil1 and welcome to the forum. I’m Jayne, an eclectic witch originally from England, but now living in Texas.

The website here is wonderful, with tons of information and classes to follow along with at your own pace. And the forum is a very welcoming place with knowledgable witches from all around the world, so you can jump in to any conversation that interests you and if you have any questions, just go ahead and ask.

Don’t worry that you have left it too late to get started in the Craft. I didn’t get started until 2024, when I was 68. And it has given me a whole new wonderful outlook and meaning to my life. Yes, I wish I have discovered it earlier, but now I’m just making up for lost time.
