Hi from the desert!

Hi! Im an eclectic witch from Nevada! I started practicing around 6 years ago. Ive been paying for this site for over a year and never looked at the forum much lol im not sure why but today I stumbled across it and decided I’d introduce myself.

My fave thing about the craft is the meditation, and the sense of control. Ive always felt very connected to nature. I grew up in Oregon and that was amazing. Later in my teen years I moved to Nevada after a family tragedy and felt stripped of the nature I loved. However I’ve learned to appreciate the nature here. It’s no Oregon but it’s still a place on earth (lol) and the mountains are quite stunning. Some day I’ll get use to the barren land lolol. I know many people who grow food in their backyards here so I know it’s possible but for now Im sticking to my aerogarden on my kitchen counter.

Anyway merry meet yall! Please tell me about yourselves too! And if anyone grows witchy herbs in their aerogarden please tell me how that’s going!! Ive mostly had success with basil, lemon balm, stevia, and dill.

Hi, @kimberley3! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum! :infinite_roots:

I’m an Eclectic Witch too! There are a lot of us here! And the best thing about being a member is that there is a lot more of the site open to you now! More stuff for your BOS! It’s awesome!

But yeah, about me. I’ve been a pagan for ages, but have been actively practicing for about five years now. I’m in it for the spirituality of the thing, but I love candle magic and chants. I’m awful at meditation, though, so I kind of envy you. I also have a black thumb, but there are plenty of others here who are great with plants!

I’m sorry for whatever it was that led you to leave Oregon; I’m glad you’ve found yourself loving Nevada. If you need any help, have any questions, or anything about the site, just give a hollar and someone will pop up to give you a hand! I look forward to getting to know you!

Hello @kimberley3,

Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, an Eclectic Witch and one of the moderators. I’m so happy you decided to pop in and say hi - it’s very nice to meet you

You’ve got some great herbs in your garden! Basil and lemon balm are two of my favorites as well :herb:  I haven’t had much luck with dill - it doesn’t seem to like the spot it’s in, and I’ve never tried stevia! It must be nice to have a natural sweetener on hand to add to cooking and drinks.

If you’re interested in gardens, there’s a Magick Gardens discussion you might enjoy! Folks share pictures of what they’re growing throughout the year. Feel free to jump in and share/talk about your plants, or just relax and enjoy the pretty flowers :bouquet:

Make yourself at home here, Kimberley - blessed be!

Heyyy girlll!

Guess whatttt? I am an ECLECTIC TOOOO! Bammm look at all of us ECLECTICS LOL!

I left the Accounting Industry last year to become a Spiritual Healer.

Nevada is beautiful, I’ve been there before, but I was a teenager. I was in Las Vegas, but I do remember the stunning Mountains.

I’ve been practicing since January 1st of this year. It’s so funny, I have GROWN SO MUCH SINCE THEN! I joined the Coven two months ago and it has been a really great experience for me. It has been a space where I can truly be myself finally. Where I find likeminded Souls and FRIENDS who actually get and understand me.

I look forward to getting to know you better!

If you need anything, give me a shout!

Blessed Be!

Oh cool we’ve been practicing around the same amount of time then! I also adoooore candle magick. I have Mystic Dylans book about candle magick, called Candle Magic for Beginners. I absolutely adore it. Im a fire sign and i love to meditate while watching the flame of the candle. Very healing!

And thank you for your condolences. Still healing and it’s been over 15 years. I use my practice to help with that honestly. Idk how much I can go into, i need to reread the trauma sharing guidelines but honestly id rather just not discuss it rn, so ill save that for the future if its ever important to the discussion.

Thanks ill keep that in mind, im so glad to see how active the forum is!

Greetings @kimberley3 and welcome!

My name is Kat, and I started practicing the craft in 1993. I practice bioregional nature magick and work closely with the natural world, and drawing inspiration from plant spirits, animal spirits. My interests include herbalism, gardening, and divinatory practices like tarot, throwing bones, Lenormand and ogham.

There is a wonderful search function that will help you dig for more information in the forums!

We’re glad to have you here. :purple_heart: Make yourself comfortable, explore, and feel free to ask questions!:herb: :acorn: :crescent_moon: :deer:

That would make two of us (and probably a lot more). I love nature and meditation is my bag, too. I study belief systems and loosely fall under the Chaos umbrella. Right now, I’m into cards and the Norse Pantheon

Welcome to Spells8! (OK.. you’ve been here a while but no one in the Coven has welcomed you - except now and you’ll see there are a lot of friendly people here).

I like Nevada - maybe not Vegas but there is a ton of things to do there. Gets warm in some places but it is such a great scenic area.

Welcome to the Infinite Roots coven, @kimberley3 . So glad you decided to check out the forum part of the site! I’m Jayne, originally from the UK, but now living in Texas. I would say i’m an eclectic too, but my practice leans toward nature- and earth magic. I recently adopted the witch name Greenbriar to more closely align with my practice.

As others have said, feel free to jump into any conversation that interests you and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

I’m not much of a desert person - I like green plants too much, lol. However a few years ago, my husband and I went on a road trip, which included driving through the Great Basin of Nevada and I realized the desert has a lot more diversity than I expected and I really enjoyed the drive.

I want that one so bad, but I have others I want more so it keeps getting pushed back. Is it complicated? We have a book club too by the way, you read a book a month and talk about it. It’s great!

If you never feel comfortable sharing, that’s fine too! We’re not here to traumatize you but to help you.

We have a lot of people here who’ve been practicing for a while. It’s great, and then we have the newbies and everything in between. And I’m always learning something new, so that’s fun. The Witch Challenge is for the Inner Child this week, and I’m going to have to figure out something to do. Other than decorating for Halloween. LOL!

But yeah, I’m glad you’re here!

I wouldn’t say it’s complicated at all, it’s actually so clear and concise! But it covers soooo many aspects of candle magick. I was just flipping through it to refresh my memory and it has sections about the colors, different shapes and types of candles, cleansing charging and consecrating, and then a great section on intention setting. The rest of the book is a spell book basically focusing on spells for love, healing, protection, abundance, and enlightenment. It’s 154 pages long. Not a very big book but packed with the right amount of info I feel.

Im so excited for that! Ive got to figure it out too, my first challenge here! I hope your decorating goes well! Ive all but given up on decorating with how bad my health has been but Im still gunna do some fun festive stuff this year (like a Halloween/fall cozy vision board! Thats right up my alley, gotta decide on if Im gunna make it digitally and then print it or if i should get a poster board and print out the pictures individually and collage it together that way. Hmmm)

Anyway thanks again for the welcome!! I hope the breakdown of that book helps ya out!

That sounds great! I need to get it soon.

I’m trying to wait until later in September. But we’ll see if I hope out. LOL!

There have been times when I didn’t do anything like that, so I understand the feeling.

It does, thank you! And I like making people feel welcomed. It can be overwhelming to join a new group.
