Note from Amethyst:
Starbucks and Dunkin’s are both rolling out their Fall Menus this week! So it’s Pumpkin Spice Time!
The only reason I’m giving y’all a recipe for Pumpkin Pie Spice is that some people like to make their own using freshly ground spices. Nutmeg is great when it’s fresh-ground, or however you say it. It tastes so much brighter, but it’s difficult to do in large quantities. If you’re going for more than a sprinkle, use a coffee grinder that is dedicated to spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, and break the nutmeg up into pieces before trying to grind it.
It’s worth the effort if you use a lot of nutmeg, though, and you can grind your own cloves too! And again, you can grind your own cinnamon if you break it up into bits. You can get coffee grinders for as low as ten bucks, so it may be worth one if you’re going to make a lot of Pumpkin Pie Spice.
Something to think about. I’m not into pumpkin-flavored coffees, but it’s probably less expensive to make them yourself. I’m going to be putting up a recipe for cold brew coffee next week, and it needs a grinder for the coffee unless you buy your coffee grounds yourself, and either a French Press or cheesecloth.
Just something for you to think about this Fall. Cause I have lots of spiced recipes to post already!
