Hi all, so i swear i had 7 keys hanging up and i only have 6 now… am i dreaming or has Blue my Macaw lost it somewhere???

I dug around a bit and am seeing some mixed results- She seems to be depicted at times with one key (which doesn’t quite make sense, since She is called the “Keeper of Keys” in the plural)- so maybe the one key is symbolic? 
I do see many depictions of three keys of Hekate, with the three keys representing Her three faces/aspects. But then I’m also seeing references to nine keys- like this key ritual to Hekate:

This being said, I’m not an expert in this- but there are many folks here in the forum who work with Her, so hopefully they have some better advice and guidance for you! 
(Also, from what you’ve said about Blue, I would not be surprised if he is swiping keys 
)

Thank you this is so wonderful! I was also very mixed feelings and i heard to exact same thing and don’t know where i got 6 or 7 keys from… I will be sure to write the Hekate ritual out it is perfect

In this case, I think they’re referring to that one key as the skeleton key – that is, a single key that can open any lock, thus negating the need for any more. We still use the idea today:
Looking at it this way, the “Keeper of the Keys” still makes sense, even with just the one key!
