Im Cherokee and I come from a line of healers, conjuriers, backwoods medicine women but all has been lost due to uncertain times years ago. Hello and welcome @melissa4 :purple_heart:
I love that you´re part of the First Nations, there must be so much wisdom, tradition, sacred myths and art! :purple_heart: (I don´t love what white colonizers did to your tribes. And I also can´t stand the ongoing cultural appropriation.)
I´m Katharina, an art-witch and art therapist from Vienna, Austria! My ancestry is quite diverse and stretches more or less across all of Europe. From Russia, Poland, and Slovenia to Swabia…it’s a little bit of everything. My family has lived in Austria for about a hundred years.
I´m practicing magick very much through art making! I love altar craft, candle making, poppet work, spell boxes, jars and all kinds of creative magic shenanignas. Working in my Book of Shadows is a big part of my pratice. I love all things tarot and practice this art since many moons.
The forum is huge and it takes time to get to know everything. The people here are very sweet and helpful, so just make yourself known if there´s any questions, someone will certainly show up to help you.

If you want, take a look at the 13 Goddesses Thread, it´s a project I´ve started this year to deepen the understanding and connection to female archetypes and how they are represented in deities. Feel free to join the creative fun!
Brightest blessings! :dizzy:

Hi Melissa, and welcome to the coven! I’m Jayne, an eclectic witch, originally from England, but now live in Texas. My witch name Greenbriar was chosen as I feel it closely aligns with my path which leans towards earth and nature magic. I look forward to getting to know you. This forum is huge, but very friendly and helpful. Feel free to jump into any conversation that interests you, and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi, @melissa4! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum! :infinite_roots:

It’s nice to meet you! I’m an Eclectic Witch myself, and I like chants, crystals, and candle magic. I like folk magic too, but I’m not able to grow things where I live or get out and forage for herbs. It just doesn’t feel the same to me, getting lavender from Kroger’s. I know it is, but it doesn’t feel it to me. LOL!

Oh, I’ll still use it from time to time, but I’m not big on using herbs. Although I think I might try to change that. We’ll see.

Anyhow, it’s nice to get to know you! I’d be interested in learning from you!

Fabulous Friday Melissa,

To use a phrase, sorry “I’m late to the party”….looks like you have been heartily welcomed! And so do I…welcome to our group!!!

So wonderful your background!!! Turns out I am Indian also, (Ancestry DNA test, my father was Am. Indian, Portuguese and Black, didn’t know who dad was [mom, “working girl”]). I have always loved Indian things. Spent many years with the Indians in the 4-corners area.
Follows is my history, and some may not like the language. Cont. with your own discretion. For those not continuing….Have a great Friday….Lady Gene :turtle:

Spoiler Alert* Little uncomfortable history of my past. Don’t read if you don’t want to.

My G-Grandma was born in Kansas Territory, and was in the Oklahoma land rush. I was told we had Indian from her side. Looking at the family history and background, I think her mother may have been raped by Indians. My G-Grandma and her twin were born more than 18 years after the last sibling, and look MUCH different than the others in the family. Who knows the truth? You know how families try to hide the “ugliness” of the truth. That’s why my mother told me I was Hawaiian and Chinese and that my father was killed in a car accident before I was born. So much easier to say your child is an orphan of an Hawaiian person (exotic back in 1960) than to admit you were a “working girl” and have no idea who the father is.

So, “off the soapbox” now, sorry all.

Melissa, take your time to look around, there is much to see, and many people to meet and learn from. We are such a diverse crowd, with so many experiences, you can find almost anyone who understands your questions.

Happy Hunting, Lady Gene :turtle: :face_with_monocle:

Merry meet @melissa4 :sparkles:

Your heritage sounds incredibly powerful. Coming from a line of healers and medicine women is such a beautiful calling. It must feel special to be reconnecting with that.

What draws you most right now ancestral work or elemental practice?
I’m exploring different paths myself and love learning how everyone weaves their own magick.

Blessed be :raising_hands:
