I cast a protection spell last night for me and my son. We are having issues with the neighbors being unkind and their energy has really been affecting us. So I did an onion protection spell with a white candle. I cast a circle and said the incantation, and I was doing the meditation part I felt like I was really connected with my intention (which is simply that we would be protected from the bad vibes they are sending our way) and I pictured my son and I both surrounded by a soft white glowing light and unaffected by the negativity.
That is when it got weird. The candle flame got really tall and started dancing and I felt like I almost went into a trance or something and I felt a really strong energy going through me. Then the candle flame turned almost dark. It didn’t feel like anything negative, it just felt like a really strong energy. I have never experienced anything like this before and I’m just wondering what this could mean?
I have a sense like the spell was successful and I can feel a comforting energy around me and my son.

In my opinion, that’s exactly what happened. It sounds like whoever was with you, they wanted you to feel their energy, to know for yourself that They are there, protecting you both.
You can always use your preferred divination method to find out who it is, if you want to; some do, some prefer to take solace just knowing someone is there.
And congratulations on a successful spell… don’t forget to celebrate the little victories, because we don’t ever seem to ignore the stumbles!
Thank you very much for your insight. I kind of felt like I encountered a presence, but I’m not sure, was it a deity? A spirit? I will definitely try tarot to see if that can shed some light. I will definitely celebrate.
Who’s to say whether there is a difference? I like tracyS idea of energies, as all spirits/deities/guardians have an energy, so now I go with what I feel. Before that, I did several spreads to identify them and the names were from different pantheons and it was confusing…but their energies are pure and unique to each other. Although sometimes I use their pantheon names, I can’t help it
Wow. Sounds like it worked! Maybe you should leave some honey or something out as a thank you, if that’s possible for you. Honey seems to work for Gods and Fae, so you should be covered for whatever it was.
