I got a printout freebie of a New Deck Interview from Rachel at Spellboundsociety.co. Sadly, I completely forgot to take a photo of this spread, but I did make a note of which cards I pulled for each question.
Since I am still so new to tarot, it would be good for me to have a go at. I used Decoding the Cards, rom WritualPlanner.com to decipher them, and then had a go at seeing how they answer the questions asked in each case.
- What do you want me to know about you?
I drew the Three of Pentacles Reversed.
Keywords: Working alone | Disharmony
The Reversal of the Three of Pentacles symbolizes a difficult situation in which conflicts, misunderstandings, and miscommunication have taken root. In this case, taking a step back to realign your goals is essential. Establishing a clear plan for each team member’s roles and responsibilities can help restore harmony and equilibrium within the group.
Additionally, the Three of Pentacles Reversed can indicate that you must adjust your expectations and be open to collaborating with others. We can often achieve more than we could on our own through working together.
Finally, the Three of Pentacles Reversed can indicate that you feel undervalued, or unappreciated in your current work situation. If this is the case, it may be time to look for more opportunities where you contributions can be valued and appreciated more meaningfully.
Eek - this sounds like the deck isn’t very happy with how we have been working together so far, and that I should adjust my expectations and reevaluate how much I put in to the partnership between us to bring it in to balance.
- Why have you come into my life?
I drew the Wheel of Fortune Reversed.
Keywords: Bad luck | Resisting change | End of a cycle
The Wheel of Fortune reversed can be difficult to interpret. It is often seen as an omen of bad luck, challenges and change that we may not feel confident or secure about.
This card encourages us to plan ahead during times of difficulty, dilemma or confusion.
It also suggests the importance of recognizing when it is time to let go of a situation, even if it feels like the end of something important. If you are feeling stuck in your life or career and can’t seem to get out of a rut, it could be an indication that it’s time for a change.
My thoughts: here we go again with the ending, change and thing I need to let go of, that came up in the spread I did earlier (that I have no idea what it’s referring to). But perhaps it’s just telling me it came into my life to give me a heads up that I need to plan ahead for all contingencies. Or perhaps it’s reminding me that I can get into a rut being retired, just as easily as being stuck in a career, and that I should diversify my interests, learn something new and keep myself occupied.
- How should we work together?
I drew The Empress.
Keywords: abundance | generosity | creativity | nurturing | fertility
The Empress is a powerful representation of feminine energy, embodying creativity, nurturing and sensuality. Her presence encourages us to evoke our feminine side through creative expression, free thought and a deeper connection with our senses.
She also reminds us to treat ourselves and others with kindness, compassion, and empathy. Her energy suggests that a comfortable home life, abundance, security and emotional support are essential for our well-being.
The Empress is a gentle reminder to take time for yourself and enjoy the finer things in life, while also giving back and taking care of those around you. She encourages us to deepen our connection with ourselves and others by recognizing the beauty within us all.
My thoughts: I think the deck is telling me not to take the cards too literally, to connect with my intuition and creativity more when working with the deck.
- What is your connection to my current life phase?
I drew the Magician.
Keywords: action | manifestation | power | resourcefulness
The Magician is an exceptional symbol of manifesting one’s desires. It signifies that you have the power to use the resources around you and utilize them to realize your dreams.
The presence of this card in a tarot reading suggests that it is time to take action and confidently make decisions. This can be achieved by creating a vision and focusing your attention on one step at a time to bring you closer to your goal.
The Magician’s appearance indicates you have within yourself all the power and potential necessary to manifest your objectives into something tangible. Be confident in knowing that with focus, commitment and belief, success will follow.
My thoughts: Since this whole reading is about how I can connect with the deck, I’m going to say that I think the deck is telling me that I have all the power and potential within me right now to work with it and that, with focus and commitment on my side, we can make a success of it
- What types of reading best suit you?
I drew the Five of Cups.
Keywords: disappointment | regret | sadness | pessimism
When the Five of Cups appears in a reading, it can signify a situation that has not gone according to plan. It can indicate that you are disappointed or let down by how things have turned out and may even regret the decisions you made to get you there. Weighed down by emotional baggage from the past, you may feel unable to move forward.
The Five of Cups suggests that it is time to reflect on the lessons you have learned - having gone through that experience, you are stronger and more prepared now. Through understanding all this, you will be able to forgive, move on and come back into balance to manifest a better outcome next time.
My thoughts: This seems to be telling me that a simple past, present and future spread would suit it best, it would be able to show me elements in the past that I need to be aware of, to prepare for the future.
- What guidance can you offer me at this moment?
I drew the Five of Wands.
Keywords: conflict | disagreements | tension | competition
When the Five of Wands appears in a reading, in indicates tension and strife. This can manifest in several ways, from irritable individuals looking to start a conflict, to friends or co-workers involved in disputes that have reached boiling point. There may be no apparent purpose to the argument other than simply arguing.
The Five of Wands can also represent a situation where there are conflicting opinions, and no one is willing to compromise, thus resulting in an impasse.
The Five of Wands often warns of a person or situation that is confrontational and aggressive. Try to step back and de-escalate the situation to make progress and get everyone working together again.
My thoughts: Well this isn’t very helpful. It’s hard to see how this may be guidance, which was specifically what the question was. But… maybe it’s saying that it, the deck, and I, are in conflict. Perhaps one or other of us is being confrontational (I would say it’s the deck, but that’s just me) And it suggests I step back and de-escalate the situation. So perhaps the guidance it is giving me is simply to not ask it specific questions like in this spread and go back to simple three card, past-present-future spreads to take the heat off and let us work together again.
So - how did I do?
