Mabon Witchcraft Jar Spell
Purpose: Celebrate Mabon, the autumn equinox, by creating a jar spell to bring balance, gratitude, and protection into your life as you honor the harvest season.
Materials Needed:
- A small glass jar with a lid
- Dried apple slices (symbolizing abundance and prosperity)
- Dried corn kernels (representing the harvest and fertility)
- Cinnamon sticks (for protection and warmth)
- Bay leaf (for wishes and prosperity)
- Dried rosemary (for protection and purification)
- A small citrine or clear quartz crystal (for clarity and energy)
- Orange or yellow candle (representing the autumn season)
- A small piece of paper and a pen
Steps:
Cleanse Your Space: Begin by cleansing your space and materials. You can do this by smudging with sage, lighting incense, or using a cleansing spray.
Set Your Intention: Take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Focus on your intention for the spell—whether it’s to bring balance, express gratitude, invite abundance, or protect your home.
Write Your Intention: On the small piece of paper, write down your intention or a short affirmation, such as “I welcome balance and abundance into my life” or “I am grateful for the harvest and all the blessings in my life.”
Fill the Jar: Begin adding the items to your jar one by one, saying a few words about what each item represents to you:
- Add the dried apple slices for abundance and prosperity.
- Add the dried corn kernels for the harvest and fertility.
- Add the cinnamon sticks for protection and warmth.
- Add the bay leaf for wishes and prosperity.
- Add the dried rosemary for protection and purification.
- Place the crystal in the jar for clarity and energy.
- Include Your Intention: Fold the piece of paper with your intention and place it inside the jar.
Seal the Jar: Close the jar with the lid. As you do so, envision your intention being sealed into the jar, knowing that it will work to manifest your desires.
Light the Candle: Light the orange or yellow candle, representing the energy of the harvest and the balance of day and night. Hold the jar in your hands and pass it over the flame (be careful not to burn yourself or the jar) to infuse it with the candle’s energy.
Speak Your Affirmation: Say your affirmation or a blessing aloud, such as, “I honor the balance of Mabon, and I invite abundance, gratitude, and protection into my life. So mote it be.”
Place the Jar: Once the candle has burned for a while, extinguish it safely. Place your jar on your altar, in your kitchen, or in another special place where it can remind you of your intention.
Closing:
As you celebrate Mabon, reflect on the balance in your life, the things you are grateful for, and the ways you can cultivate abundance and protection in the coming months. Revisit your jar whenever you need to reconnect with your intention, and consider lighting the candle again to recharge its energy. Happy Mabon!
