I have been working so much, and we’ve had so much rain in the last week my yard is a mess. I did take a picture of my spider lilies yesterday. I think I will put some in a vase for my Litha altar.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I wish we had a little more rain here. That would save me having to go out every evening and water the 1000 new things I put in this year. And yes, I fully acknowledge I did it to myself
Your spider lilies are absolutely gorgeous. I had not known of that plant until you posted your picture. I need to see if it will grow where I am. I’d love to go out into the yard and see that every day!
Thank you @Mystique and @veronica1. My mom grew them for as long as I can remember. These bulbs came from her and I’ve had them for over 30 years. I have seen them growing along the swamps in Louisiana before. That’s where my parents grew up, so maybe they grow wild there? Not sure. I need to make sure they aren’t poisonous before I cut them and put them in a vase for Litha. I don’t want my “jungle cat” getting sick.
The multicolored yarrow has been blooming for a bit. I love these-when they open they’re one color, then as time goes on they get lighter or darker in color. Sometimes the white will end up becoming some other color.
The dappled willow has pinked out. The milkweed are developing so many flower buds, I cannot wait for that show. And my new silver mound (artemesia) is just starting to put out these little silvery/white buds. This is definitely going into my moon garden next year.
The black ship lily is spectacular. I am obsessed with photographing it. The day lilies have started to open as well. So far they have escaped the resident herd of deer.
I hope your gardens are growing like crazy. I would love to see pictures!
I took this with my cell phone from a safe distance - didn’t want to scare him. We had a chat about him finding other things to eat than my daylilies.
You can see how intimidated he is by me.
I fully expected to come down this morning and see that he’d gone on another rampage, but everything looks the same. Maybe he listened to me after all!
My buttonbush is finally going to bloom this year! These little pods will open soon and the local pollinators will love them. In the winter, they should be bright red and hard like little berries and the birds will get them.
All my herbs are in pots on the deck this summer. I’m growing basil, rosemary, parsley, oregano and yesterday potted some mint.
Other things in my pollinator garden aren’t quite open yet. Still waiting for the Joe Pye weed, the Cardinal flowers and the swamp milkweed to open completely.
@veronica - Everything looks amazing! I love the color on the clematis, dark day lilies, and roses. So vibrant! The multicolored yarrow is really cool too. Thanks for sharing!
@Feathertip - Hello to your lovely deer friend! Their antlers look so fuzzy and cute Your gardens look vibrant and lovely, even despite any visitors coming to snack!
Thanks for sharing your pictures! I can’t resist a garden tour, IRL or in pictures.
That is a handsome buck. But I feel your pain. They’ve left my day lilies alone so far. But a friend, just one street over lost almost all her flower stems to a doe. She was so upset. She had been tending them and looking forward to their opening. And in the course of two nights, wiped out.
I love your button bush. I almost put one in. When their flowers open, they remind me of a satellite or something mod from the 60s. Would love to see more pics when that opens up!
You have a gorgeous garden. And that’s a great collection of herbs.
@veronica1 What beautiful plants and blooms you have in your garden! I love your selection of herbs. I need to get more diversified with my herb garden.
@featherttip what fun to see a deer in your garden (although not so much when he is eating it, I’m sure.
All of these flowers and herbs are so beautiful! I especially love the beach and the seashells! I wish I lived in a house so I could try gardening! Maybe one day…
