@Artemisia That is a beautiful monarch ![]()
Thank you for the positive ID, @Artemisia! I have a few fluttering about and this one doesn’t seem too interested in the host plant for egg laying. ![]()
The buttonbush blooms have no discernible scent - but clearly, the pollinators love it anyway. It may be so slight we humans can’t pick it up. It took 3 years for it to bloom. Worth the wait!
Absolutely! I have never seen a buttonbush before, and it’s amazing! Thank you for sharing! ![]()
Such lovely visitors to your milkweed! Your garden is a butterfly paradise

I love your witches herb garden. That’s a goal of mine. Along with a Moon garden.
Thank you! A Moon Garden sounds awesome!
Thank you! I find them magickal. ![]()
@Ostara - wow - your little pineapple looks perfect! Congrats! ![]()
Your witches herb garden is absolutely luscious. You have some happy plants!
Thank you. Usually at the time of year they are struggling because of the heat and lack of rain. This has been a strange weather year for Texas.
@Ostara I am not a fan of pineapple
, but that Ive sure looks tasty
! Beautiful
garden too!
Thank you. I grew the pineapple by accident. I put a pineapple top in dirt and 3 years later I have a pineapple. I had no idea they were so easy to grow.
Now that’s cool!! I had a similar thing happen when I was simply trying to compost a pumpkin. A little guy popped up the following summer! ![]()
@Ostara @Feathertip Wow
! So cool ! I hope one day soon I can have my own little garden in my own backyard somewhere!
You can always start a garden in flower pots!
@Ostara I tried to grow a sunflower that was supposed to be guaranteed to grow, but it never grew! I do have a pot and some potting soil. I could put it on my balcony like other people do. Thank you for the idea.
You’re welcome! May your balcony garden be blessed with growth and abundance!

@Ostara Thanks Doll! Question, is there a plant that I you recommend to start with That is safe for dogs…
Pothos. It’s almost impossible to kill. It even grows in just water.
Just adding info
- Pothos (aka Devil’s Ivy) is toxic to dogs and cats as they contains calcium oxalates.
I love my pothos plants and they are super easy to grow, as @Ostara says, but mine are safely out of reach of my critters.
