The Gort Ivy initiates in the eleventh lunation. Ivy often grows in spirals & always towards the light. It offers us a pattern to model for individuation & soul growth. It can grow almost anywhere, even pushing through concrete & walls. It never gives up. It is thought that there were once thirteen astrological signs – that Virgo may originally have been divided into two signs, one of which was named for Arachne, an aspect of the Great Mother as spinner & creator of the physical world. Ivy promises growth, resurrection, & renewal, & Wolf is our guide & protector as we move into our shadow to gain insight. Ivy promises triumph. The ogham for this plant is Gort & the letter G.
12. Gort Ivy Reversed You are avoiding inner work that will lead you to a higher level of consciousness & development. Perhaps you are over-reliant upon others for your identity & self-worth. Ivy reversed might also indicate a lack of soul growth. If you find you have little self-knowledge – that is limited insight into your own motivations, your shadow side, or even your self. Consider hiring a therapist or seeking a teacher to help you understand your true essence & your inner world.

Difficult problems require strength and willpower. Strength can tame a lion face down her hears and unwanted feelings, bringing them under control through grace and acceptance. I’ve been feeling drawn to a deck I hardly ever use, The Celtic Tree Oracle, so I decided to pull from that today and wanted to share it with you all

Just a note – I don’t use the booklet that came with this deck. I use the meanings and interpretations of the ogham fíd on the card.

Beith was the first ogham fíd ever carved. It was carved into a piece of Birchwood by Ogma, an Irish God, to warn Lugh of a plot against his wife. It is a symbol of purification and one I personally associate with the protection a warning can provide. Take this as a sign to check in with yourself and ask how you can be better protected. Give yourself and your space a good cleanse, open the windows, and play some good music. It might also be a good time for meditation and communication with your Spirit team.
