Merry Meet, From Missouri

Good morning,
I am new here, just joined. I am from everywhere really but recently found myself in Missouri. I am a pagan, but thought I’d give your site a go and learn some things about your beliefs. So, I guess I’m what you would deem an eclectic Wicca.
I would love to chat on the topic.

Hello @christina40,

Welcome! I’m Bry, a fellow Eclectic and one of the moderators here in the forum. It’s very nice to meet you

It’s a fun topic to explore! I’ve found that labels can be seen as confirming or restrictive, depending on the individual. Some find empowerment through the labels they wear while others prefer to practice without setting definitions. Eclectic is the middle ground in my eyes - it offers clarity and helps express one’s practice to others, but doesn’t restrict the practitioner to any one specific tradition or path. It’s the label that resonates best for me. How about you - how do you feel about labels in general, or about ‘Eclectic’ as a way to define your personal practice?

Make yourself at home here, Chrissy - blessed be!

Hi, @christina40! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum! :infinite_roots:

It’s nice to meet you! And what an interesting question to ask, about what we would deem an eclectic Wiccan. That’s what I am. And I hadn’t think about it before really.

You know those old time quilts? Not the ones with all the fabrics bought from the store, but the ones that are made from bits and pieces of a person’s life? Your favorite tee-shirt from high school you can’t wear, and part of a baby blanket, and maybe other bits and pieces from people who you’ve cared about?

Then they sit down and make all those scraps into something wonderful. Something that will not only keep your body warm on a cold winter’s night, but your soul warm too.

That’s kind of how I like being an Eclectic Wiccan is about. You take the bits and pieces of what you like and make it your own, something unique. No two Eclectic Wiccan’s practice will be alike.

You don’t have to believe in the same gods that I do. And if you do, you don’t have to worship them the same way. Or if you see a prayer or chant that’s somebody’s shared and you like, you can use it for yourself. As long as your good with it, that’s all that matters.

Anyhow, that’s what I think about being an Eclectic Wiccan. I hope it helps you out. I look forward to getting to know you!

Merry meet @christina40 and welcome!

My name is Kat, and I’ve been practicing the craft for over 30 years. My practice is rooted in a blend of nature magick, green magick, and elements of hedgecraft. I work closely with the natural world, drawing inspiration from plant spirits, animal spirits, and liminal spaces. My interests include herbalism, gardening, and divinatory practices like tarot, throwing bones, and Lenormand.

There is a wonderful search function that will help you dig for more information in the forums!

We’re glad to have you here. :purple_heart: Make yourself comfortable, explore, and feel free to ask questions!:herb: :acorn: :crescent_moon: :deer:

I don’t much like labels. I prefer to be a free spirit. I have been a practicing pagan for many years and haven’t labeled myself for most of them. I feel out of practice and am now reexploring.

Welcome @christina40!

I’m Georgia, currently in New Mexico. I’m a traveler, too. Mom believed in having a “base of operations” to come back to, so I say I was born and raised in Indiana, though I often sat in my own bedroom and wished to go home. Haven’t felt that so intensely in New Mexico. I’ve been through 36 states “and had lots of amazing adventures, but that’s another story.” - Neverending Story

I’m Pagan as well. Since I’m not quite Wiccan, I consider myself chaote, learning everything available, and using what works for me. We have quite a variety of faiths represented, here. I’m sure you’ll fit right in.

Feel free to jump into any conversation which interests you and ask any questions you like! That’s how we get to know each other better.

That’s very valid! It sounds like you’ve blazed your trail in a way that suits you and your beliefs - that’s wonderful

The modern world requires a lot of our time and energy - I think it’s natural for someone to have waxing and waning periods dedicated to their spirituality. It sounds like it’s time for you to jump back in and embrace your calling. I’m excited for you, Chrissy! Please know that you have a supportive coven here happy to help or even just chat about magick. Make yourself at home! :mage: :books:

Blessed be
