Merry Meet Monday - Witchy News of the Week! (Apr 21 - 27) 🌘

Well, now it’s Tuesday  As much as I wanted to get the things here done, I got distracted… This time by plants & planter pots… I acquired a few new plant friends too!

  • Baby Snake Plant

  • Hanging Pothos

  • Prickly Pear Cactus succulent

  • Yucca Plant
→ I know the Snake Plant and Yucca are toxic to animals because of saponins, natural compounds that act as a defense mechanism against pests and insects. Unfortunately, these saponins are toxic to dogs, cats, and even horses if ingested. If your curious dog or cat decides to chew on the leaves of a snake plant, they may experience symptoms like:

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Nausea

  • Drooling

  • Abdominal pain

In more severe cases, ingesting snake plant leaves can lead to lethargy, tremors, and loss of appetite. Even if the reaction is mild, it can be distressing for both the pet and the owner. It can also be toxic to humans if a curious child, especially a minor, puts the leaves in their mouth.

@Amethyst, I hope your appointments go well, the needle… What if you don’t look at it, talk, and focus on the nurse? It usually doesn’t bother me. I can’t imagine they’d do a biopsy without some anesthetic, though. I could be wrong on that one. My brother was awful with any size needle. There were a few times I vividly remember him needing to be held at a young age by orderlies, my parents, and nurses for stitches. My father had to keep his shoulders while I sat on his lap for his first marriage blood tests. He got over that in the Army when he had to get vaccinations to go overseas, and they lined them up for a shot in the tooshie with no warning. After that, he’s been okay

Today I have to see my neurologist. I saw my cardiologist on… Friday. Then… I get to message my doctor to see my orthopedic surgeon and call the hospital to make an ultrasound appointment for 1 of my wrists.

Happy Earth Day, too! :globe_showing_americas: Another fun event is the Lyrid meteor shower. Last night and tonight, after dark but before dawn, you can see meteors. It said to lie flat on your back toward the south with as little outdoor artificial light as possible :star_struck:

We will also have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights again, but I’m not sure if it’s tonight or if it was last night. I do remember we had a conversation about them because of the number of times we’ve seen them recently. It’s weird to us; both of us thought that was one of those things we’d never get to see.

I’ve had big needles stuck in me before, but this is gonna be in my groin. That’s an entirely different thing! And I’m gonna be awake! Sheesh!

Can I just crawl in the freezer? LOL! Sally’s coming today, I feel sure that between the two of us we can do something.

Thanks, darling! I’m sure I can get one AC going today, so that’ll be good.

It’s just where they are going to poke it that’s bugging me. LOL! Hopefully, it won’t be a procedure that takes a long time. I don’t want to talk to the person doing it too much, I don’t want to distract them. Maybe they’ll have a helper? That would work. Thanks for the idea!

Good luck at the neurologist! And getting through to your surgeon and radiology department. I swear getting through some of the doctor’s office phone’s is awful. The automated operators are insane anymore!

Wow! What a week. I’ve been fighting off a headache for the past few days. Oak pollen is high in Oklahoma currently. Apparently my body doesn’t particularly like that.
I’ve been checking in regularly, but not particularly active.
I bought this book on sigil magic. Practical Sigil Magic | Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.

It was first published in 1952. It has some differences from the way sigil magic is taught currently (or at least how I’ve learned). For example, he says nothing about removing the vowel letters when using the word method. Also, he uses more than one sigil for his statement of intent then combines them into one. Like this:
This my wish to obtain the strength of a tiger

  • One sigil for this my wish
  • One sigil for to obtain
  • One sigil for the strength of a tiger
Then he combines those into one sigil.

He discusses some very interesting ways of charging your sigils too. I won’t go into that here :innocent:

Anyway, I’m so happy to be feeling better and catching up with everyone. :purple_heart: :sparkles:

Happy to see you back! I’m glad you’re feeling better. It’s definitely pollen season, and I’m grateful for not being susceptible to it since there’s little to be done aside from waiting for it to go away!

Your new book looks fascinating! I like that the online Llewellyn store carries an older publication like this. I need to spend some time looking around that site!

Blessed be! :feather:

The language of older books is different too. I enjoy reading it. It makes me feel like I’m there.
