Merry Meet Monday - Witchy News of the Week (Jan 19 - 25) šŸŒ’

Thanks, love! I’ll be glad to get rid of this wrap and all the medical supplies I have no room for.

I passed! It went well, so yay! Thanks for the good luck, y’all!

Nope, it was busy. You got a lot done! You get a gold star! :glowing_star:

I’m so sorry, dear heart.

Aww! How sweet! Thanks!

I hope yours goes as smoothly as mine! We’re due to have one with the USDA? I think that’s the right letters Two months probably. That’ll be fun.

Good idea! Just don’t leave any socks in books!

We’re almost to the halfway point to Spring. It won’t be long now!

Yeah, sometimes your brain just needs a break. Anymore, I just read the headlines and skim things. No more news for me. It’s too depressing. I’ll watch Soylent Green or Animal Farm instead.

Good luck with your projects! I look forward to seeing any pictures that you’re willing to share!

I passed my inspection so yay! The building manager even took the time to spin my mattress around, since it’s difficult for me to do and I was sleeping in a slump. I won’t know what to do with myself when I go to bed tonight!

They’re saying we can get anywhere from two to twelve inches of snow this Saturday. They’re not sure what we’ll get. Everyone is already panicking. Watch us getting a trace, and that’ll be it. Either that, or we’ll get two feet. We haven’t had a huge snow in a while; we’re overdue.

Keep warm, everybody!

I missed you yesterday, Sister, but totally understand. :hugs: I’m turning off my newsie notifications cause I don’t think I need to know everything.

This is exciting! Nothing like art to fire up the brain. Focusing on creativity is great medicine for the soul! :sparkles:

I butchered some innocent art supplies yesterday and had to add them to The Learning Bin :wastebasket: but I’m still in a more positive headspace than if I’d done nothing. :joy:

You should be named our official cheerleader - I love this positive thinking!

Congratulations on the two week streak, @Eira_of_the_Living_Hearth . We are blessed to have you with us, sharing your light and wisdom!

I hope everyone is well. Not too much happening here, although I am excited to have an appointment to pick up my new ASV machine on Wednesday (to replace the CPAP machine that hasn’t really been working for me) I will have a small monthly co-pay for it for 13 months, since it’s more expensive than the regular CPAP, insurance is only picking up 80%. But after 13 months it is mine, no more payments. And my sleep doctor is confident that it will be successful in treating the apnea events that I continue to have, even though I’ve been on CPAP for over a year.

And it looks like an arctic blast is heading our way at the weekend, with possible freezing rain. (the city of Houston will grind to an actual halt, but thankfully I’m retired and can hole-up at home for the duration. Just hope we don’t lose power!!!)

Nope - winter’s not done with us yet - see above, lol!!

Thank you all, I appreciate it. Working with critters (big and small) is wonderful in so many ways but this part never gets easier.

I did not. I used to as well but I wasn’t very good at it  they would fall apart!

Same here, apparently people think we’re going to get up to 3 feet which I can’t imagine happening outside of the mountains in NC, but we shall see.

Today was another busy day, saying goodbye to an old lion friend, and taking molds of a canine and claw to create keepsakes for the ones who loved him best.

Then I had to try to figure out why 1150 gallons of water was ā€œusedā€ yesterday while we were out of the house. Bleeping rubber gasket in the upstairs toilet tank got stuck and it was running the whole time we were gone. I dislike toilet repairs but have to admit I’ve learned to do it myself so off to the hardware store in the morning to buy a replacement piece and then apply for a Water Bill adjustment once it’s fixed. Honestly, I’m just thankful I figured it out and can repair it without having to pay $$$$$ for a plumber.

Tomorrow I’m hoping for some miles outside to soothe the soul from a bumpy week (and before the potential snowmageddon)!

They deserve fair pay for a fair day’s work! :sparkling_heart:

I’ve already begun looking for buds on the trees. Even if they freeze out, the wild birds will have fresh foods to eat.

Terrific Tuesday Artemisia,

Snowmaggedon…made me giggle  Lady Gene :magic_wand:

I’m sure those keepsakes will be cherished by those who worked with him and loved him. It’s never easy to say goodbye though :frowning:

Wonderful! Enjoy your creative time with your new treasures!

Aww! Thank you! But I’d look awful in a miniskirt.

That’s great! I’m glad there has been advances in sleep apnea treatments. Good luck!

Yeah, old man Winter is gonna dump on everyone in mid and eastern part of the US. Stay warm and safe everyone!

I’m sorry he passed, but I bet y’all made his life as wonderful as it could be these last few years.

Good luck trying to figure out your water bill. And don’t forget the sewer bill. They usually charge just as much for that as the water around here.

I like to imagine Dobby’s reaction to the rainbow slouch socks I used to have back in the early 80s. I bet it would be hilarious!

Huh. I did not know that. I always worried about the trees budding and if they froze, the trees would be nekkid. Glad to know that it’s for a good purpose.

You know who I worry about? The Venerable Monks and Aloka, currently walking in North Carolina on their way to Washington on the Walk of Peace. I hope they have contingency plans in place for bad weather!

@Greenbriar - I haven’t followed this closely, but apparently so far the pup is doing well and is just happy to be back with his friends. We just have to trust that there are lots of help groups ready to step in and give aid however it’s needed. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Miniskirts are old-fashioned - comfy yoga paints and a long, loose flowing top is all you’d need, and you’d rock it! :sparkling_heart:

I hadn’t thought about that! Man, I hope they do too! Sheesh.

Is that what cheerleaders wear these days? I’ll do it! :megaphone:

Aloka is not walking with the monks. He had surgery to repair a leg injury and is still recovering and has not been cleared to rejoin the walk for a while.

From Aloka the Peace Dog’s Facebook page posted 2 hours ago:
" šŸ“Œ Aloka Update from Charleston Veterinary Referral Center

ā€œWe know the world is eager to see Aloka the Peace Dog reunited with the venerable monks, and so are we at CVRC. After a face-to-face discussion with Bhikkhu Pannakara, the decision was made to move forward with surgery sooner rather than later. While Aloka could have returned as early as 1–2 days post-op, the monks thoughtfully chose for him to remain at CVRC longer to ensure the best possible recovery during the Walk for Peace.

Aloka is doing exceptionally well post-op. The lameness in his injured leg is not much worse than it was before surgery, and he’s only 8 days out. Just wait until he has even more healing time!

CVRC is honored to care for Aloka as long as the monks wish. He’s healing beautifully, enjoying daily physical therapy, and soaking up his afternoon walks, especially in the sunshine. Aloka loves the sun! ā˜€ļø

When the monks are ready to continue his post-operative care, we will transport Aloka back for his reunion. His permanent return is nearing, and we truly cannot wait. In the meantime, we are deeply grateful for the many offers of support. If you wish to donate, please consider the Walk for Peace or CVRC’s Cares Fund, which helps families afford lifesaving veterinary care. šŸ¤ ā€œ

From The Walk for Peace’s official facebook page posted yesterday at 6pm:

"šŸ“Œ Our Plan for the Cold Weather: We are deeply touched by the outpouring of kindness and concern regarding the coming cold weather! Your thoughtful care for the Venerable Monks means so much to the entire team.

Please know that the Walk for Peace is continuing, and we are well-prepared for the dropping temperatures. We have ensured that everyone has adequate warm clothes and protection.

Furthermore, our dedicated support team is ready with backup plans: we are prepared to take swift action to add necessary layers, seek safe indoor shelter, or adjust the walking schedule as needed, always prioritizing everyone’s health and well-being.

Your warm wishes and prayers provide immense strength for every mindful step of this peaceful journey!"

Lots of support and care protecting them :white_heart:

Thank you for sharing that @Artemisia. I knew Aloka was not walking with them at present, but I had seen some posts that made it sound like he would be joining them soon.

I’m glad to hear that the monks are prepared for the weather, including adjusting the schedule and seeking shelter if needed.

Great update - thank you! The tidbits I’ve seen have indicated he’d be joining them soon, but that now sounds very misleading.

Glad he’s safe and well, and the monks seem to have an off-ramp if needed on their journey.

I remember a mini skirt I wore in high school. I Imagine you wearing it. Guys would be trying to look around the bars of your rollator to see what they could see! :joy:

People in the desert, here, are also freaking out over the coming storm. Every weather app and meteorologist around here says something different. No one knows what is going to happen, Friday, as though no one knows the normal patterns of this area. Too funny, the way they are acting. So glad I don’t have to be out tomorrow!

May the rainbow wrap this lion’s spirit in comfort, guide, and protect our feline friend on the journey into a land of beauty and abundance and happiness.

Sliding down a hall in BVDs into a chair dance with leggings on ears.

Heaven hold them in comfort.

Thank you for sharing this update.

Oh, okay! I hadn’t heard that much about them, to tell the truth. Just that it was happening. I’m glad they’ve got plans if something happens. And I’m glad Aloka is going to be okay!

They’d be able to see it, simply because my butt is big enough. LOL!

Yeah, the panic buying is already starting. I just need some sugar, but getting into a store right now is going to be impossible. Even the local grocery store’s app is warning about the weather! That’s bad.

Oh gods! I need an image of this!! SO badly! Or him doing the Risky Business dance in its entirety! That would be hilarious. I may need to do AI crap just to learn how to do this!

I’m so glad that I’ve reached the time of day where I’m parked safely on the couch!

This has been an unusually ā€œdrop-yā€ day for me- meaning, I’ve been dropping things all freaking day!

By 9:30 am, I was picking up a spoon from the kitchen floor and it was the 8th item I’d already lost control of. Shampoo bottle in the shower, toothbrush, then cap from the toothpaste tube, a bottle of lotion, then a hanger, a shoe - I just wanted to get out of the bedroom and get downstairs!

In the kitchen I dropped a plate in the sink before dropping the coffee spoon to the floor. The plate survived.

We had to go to the store to stock up on food before this Polar vortex/express hits the state, and I was genuinely expecting to be the cause of a ā€œCLEANUP ON AISLE 3!ā€ kind of overhead announcement.

I barely touched anything and when I did, I only dropped one cucumber. Yay.

What gives?? Has anyone else ever had such a clumsy day before? I’m on the couch and hubby is bringing me dinner.

End the madness!!

Did any of your drops feel like someone shoved it from your hands? I used to get the feeling it was a spirit trying to get my attention: get home and rest ASAP! You’ll have a day of rest tomorrow, I hope. Most of it is probably nerves from all the weather warnings. You can make it.

I have and it made me have a tantrum like a two-year-old, I was so frustrated!
