@Eira_of_the_Living_Hearth glad everything went well with your recent family visit. Sending restorative blessings
@Ostara you do sound busy! I have finished the indoor touching up of painting now for the outside weather permitting. Always something to do hoping you get some rest in between.

Congratulations on the double shout out, @Feathertip . Thank you for sharing your light and love with the coven.
And welcome to all our new members, itās good to have you here.
Eric and I are back from our week up at the cabin. Iāve been in a bit of a strange and unsettled mood since we got back, but starting to feel a bit more like my normal self now.
I havenāt got around to setting all my witchy stuff out on my altar, that I had hidden from the pet sitter while we were away. And actually, Iām kind of liking the minimalistic feel, so I may choose selectively when setting things out again, instead of cramming all the things on my altar. So thatās on my agenda for this week.
@Feathertip how wonderful that your momās cheesecake won the competition and the chef cooked it for them. She looks amazing! And I love that Baltimore Oriole - so pretty.
Wishing everyone a great week.
Glad youāre feeling more like yourself again - do you think itās the usual decompressing that can happen after a trip? As much as I love getting away, I canāt argue that it isnāt disruptive, too.
I hid everything away from pet sitters, too! Even when people were coming to do work on the house if theyād be near certain areas - I had political magnets on the fridge, too, and when I lived in the South it just seemed prudent to remove it. I really got tired of it - I knew I was the outlier. ![]()
Glad youāre back! Sorry youāre feeling weird, but Iām glad itās starting to go away. Minimalism can be great! You can do a lot with an altar with only a seashell and a candle.
Iām glad you asked! Both? I think
My impression is itās a citizen-scientist event with a fun spin (costumes, contests, limited edition T-shirts, and a swag bag). There will be three different sites with white sheets set out (think clothing line) and lights shining behind the sheets. Itās a fun way to get the public (and free extra āhandsā) involved in collecting data on local moth populations. The moths come to the light and hang out on the sheet, and we get to ID and count them.
Iām nerdily super excited about it, as was that kid with the ant farm, science project raising monarchs, science paper testing a hypothesis on moth pupae overwintering, and the daughter of an amateur lepidopterist.
I have always loved Luna Moths and all the silkworm ( Bombycidae family) moths.
ok ok Iāll stop with my hyperfocus!
@Greenbriar I must admit I am a minimalist ![]()
@Feathertip contractors can be nosey I had a few things go missing once but with our home under renovation did not realise until after the work was completed. It is prudent to store your personal and precious items away so they donāt get damaged.
@Artemisia thank you for your photos I like moths we had a lot last year but not have seen any yet

That sounds fun! And what a pretty moth! Nicer than the miller bugs around here.
Donāt stop on my account! Itās interesting!
@Artemisia thats a beautiful moth!
@Greenbriar Iām happy you and Eric made it back safe.
So far so good this week. Iām getting a lot done in the house dejunking (Iām a maximalist), and the honey bees are loving my garden. I tried not to disturb them while I was picking squash this morning.
I hope everyone is having a beautiful week!
We need more kids like you! Nerd out, sister. ![]()
Iāve seen three Luna moths in my life, and they just knock me out. Youāre so lucky to have held this precious creature like this - thanks for sharing the picture! ![]()
Agreed! ![]()
That sounds wonderful! I bet they love your squash blossoms.
Too chilly for the bees on a regular basis up here. Theyāve been out and about on our warmer days, we just canāt seem to string a lot of them together so far.
@Artemisia that moth is gorgeous! If we tried that here, I think weād get eaten alive by mosquitoes!
I do participate in the bird counts and feeder watches though.
Yay! Great work!
Welcome! Merry Meet!
Yes! Excellent!
Mmmmm. That looks delish! What a happy holiday inclusion.
Sheās beautiful, looking young.
Good idea. Iāve slowed my casting down for the heat season, but I am still collecting local herbs- for no good reason yet, just because they are there.
Albus still expects to listen to the witchy music each morning, despite not having candles, and he sings along with his faves, and any other familiar songs I find along the way. Last year, he let me know he wasnāt impressed when I tried to skip the music each morning, so I am not going to even try altering that ritual.
Iām still working on a justice spell as protection from back stabbing from the former complex. It wonāt come to a head until the last legal minute, even though I have proof of all I did to attempt to resolve the issue.
Looking forward to the new moon. I want to trim my hair a bit on the ends. Might as well entice it to grow more in the process.
The gathering and support spell I worked on last weekend has been bringing friendly people out of the woodwork to support the volunteer activity directors who had been harmed by a neighbor for no good reason. Mischief managed.
Iām at the end of my knowledge of what to do to help my driver (currently on the Energy Exchange), so I handed her one last phone number to access assistance, and we had one last conversation about it. Itās all on her guardian spirits, now.

I remember reading this long agoā¦
I know the feeling. The Rio Grande is at a 30 year low, now. Meteorologists are watching an early, super- intense El Nino, so Iām hoping it will bring us rain.
Safe trip. Have fun!
Happy Birthday Sis. Is there a way to send Shanna a message that you are doing well and are happy? Iām sure sheād love to hear from you.
A month is only a few weeks long! ![]()
Glad to hear it was a nice vacation for all! I hope it brought your daughter a break or a breakthrough. Itās got to get better!
Wise choice. Enjoy your time off. Youāve earned it.
It is freeing to simplify on occasion. It cuts down on cleaning effort, too. Enjoy the space and time!
This will be fun! Moths are just as beautiful and helpful as butterflies, but we donāt see them as often because they come out when we sleep. If the population suffers, we wouldnāt notice as easily. Iām glad these counts exist!
I remember when my driverās grandson came to me, all excited about a newly- hatched moth he found. He thought there was something wrong with itās wings, and maybe I could help. Since it was so close to the mail area, and I was scared of the critter being hurt by people not watching where they were going, I had him put the moth in some bushes nearby but out of the way so it could continue stretching and coming to its new senses. It was brown with beautiful giant āeyesā on its wings. Finding it was a great lesson for the grandson, too, so he could learn the difference between butterflies and moths, and witness part of what he called watching it grow.
The Texas āState Birdā is out two weeks early around here, this year. I still havenāt put up the screen for the patio door. Iād better get busy. When I moved in here, last fall, they were monstrous about biting my ankles. Thankfully, no West Nile symptoms then, but I donāt want to tempt fate. I had it one year- bitten in a movie theater. It was not fun- several weeks of a different symptom every day. I did put pump bug repellant in my purse for travel, though, and I have a can by the patio door.
My week is almost finished, and Iām just now finding this post. Things have been evening out since the hectic mess of last weekend. I did get the housework done. Iāll do laundry over the weekend. Otherwise, I have only a handful of items left on the to do list before the inspector comes. It will soon be all upkeep for the rest of the summer. Looking forward to a blank to do list! It seems to take itās sweet bippy old time getting done, though (if I may respectfully imitate my driverās Texas accent).
@Feathertip I tip my

Hey, you never know when thatāll come in handy!
Gods, thatās hilarious! Everyoneās a critic these days, even the birds. LOL!
Sorry, love. But sometimes a person has to help themselves. You canāt force her.
Good luck with the inspection! Those are always nerve-wracking. But itās so nice to not have to clean for a bit once itās done!
Thanks, love! Sending you hugs back!
Hope you are having a good day!
@Artemisia right back at you!!
