I’ve been unable to upload anything since this morning, and I do mean anything. As soon as I click the upload button, I get a pop-up permissions denied. I don’t even get to make a choice of what I want to upload…I took a screenshot so you could see but it won’t let me upload it argh lol

Thanks for letting us know! @Greenbriar was having the same issue yesterday, so it seems like it’s not just a one-person thing.

If you’ve done all of those steps and things are still being weird, then it’s likely an issue with a backend setting – the forum software did just have an update – or the app itself.

@Nikki-Phoenix – Does it work if you copy/paste an image instead of try to upload it with the upload button?
Thanks for letting me know! There was an update to the Spells8 Android app two days ago, so that’s probably what’s causing the issue.
You might need to go to your phone’s Settings > Apps (or Manage Apps) > Spells8 > App Permissions and make sure it’s allowed to access your photos.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the app should also fix the problem in most cases.

Thank you @Francisco. I’m on an Android phone too and when I checked the settings after seeing this thread, although it was enabled in the settings, it still wouldn’t let me upload anything this morning.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it seems to be working fine now.
Thanks for the responses, I checked the app settings and the naughty update flipped the switch 
lemme try… nope still says permissions denied. I’ll uninstall etc. And let you know x ps Samsung Galaxy S23 didn’t work via the app or chrome browser and copy and paste didn’t work either x

Do you have tips for someone who isn’t using the app? When I hit the upload arrow, nothing happens at all. Just curious, as my tablet may be dying anyway. Might as well have all the info together.
Hi Georgia! Just to make sure I’m picturing it correctly - are you accessing the forum on a web browser (such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) on your tablet?
If so, I’d recommend checking to make sure the browser is updated. This month (July 2025) there are updates going into effect in the software that are a bit much for outdated browsers. While I believe it should still be possible to access the forum on old browsers, browsers that haven’t been updated may not be able to use the full features. That could be worth checking!
