I’ve been wanting to get outside and emerse myself in nature for weeks. But, it’s 96 degrees out and our pine tree in the back yard is on its way out and we are waiting for the tree removal people to get to it. That means I can’t sit on the patio without seeing it all brown and dead looking, which has really affected my mood in the past week.
So I did something today I’ve been meaning to do, loaded up my rollator and headed to Kleb Woods Nature Center which is about 8 miles away from home
.
I kept to the paved trail and the nature center building as it was tough going with all the tree roots on the other trails with my rollator. But I spent a very pleasant half hour watching rabbits and squirrels and listening to birds.
It did my soul good.

@Greenbriar That is just lovely! Thank you so much for sharing! I can feel the peace and calm! I really needed that!
I just finished Saging my apartment! I have been feeling really off the last few days and man oh man I see now why! I haven’t seen Sage smoke like that ever! I kept saying what in the world did I pick up? It must have been something really really bad and like evil … now I have a migraine from all of that, but the apartment feels better. I have all of the windows and balcony door open all the way!

@Greenbriar - oh, what a gorgeous place!
I can feel it calming me just looking at these photos - I can only imagine how it feels to be there and smell the air and hear the sounds.
Nothing beats nature for soothing the soul.
Gosh, I remember you talking about that tree last week and having to wait on the arborist. Hope they make it out soon. I agree, it’s hard to stare at something beyond your help or healing powers.
Happy for your beautiful experience! Thanks for posting these!

BUNNY!
It sounds as if you had a lovely adventure! I hope you are able to get that tree out soon so you can enjoy your patio. Waiting is awful. It makes you tired somehow.

I have long known the story behind Kleb Woods, but thought you might all like to read about it too. I found a great webpage with the whole story. It’s very interesting.
And also, I went to Kleb Woods with my garden club last year, and our historian wrote this report, complete with lots more photos, that you might enjoy.

@Greenbriar That is a really great read! I am so glad that they named the Woods after him. He sounds like he was a really great man. I like the red flowers and that red tree in their brochure.

@Greenbriar, thank you for posting this additional info. What an interesting character Mr. Kleb must have been! A bona fide hermit/pagan, living close to the Earth and her critters.
Love it!
