Inanna is one of the most important deities of ancient Mesopotamia and one of the earliest gods or goddesses known from written records.
She was first worshiped by the Sumerians, especially in the city of Uruk, which became one of her main religious centers. Inanna was connected with love, sexuality, fertility, war, and political power. She was also closely linked to kingship and victory in battle.
