New Year’s Tea Blend
This makes about 1 cup of loose herbal tea, enough for 12–15 cups of brewed tea.
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons green tea (sencha or gunpowder works nicely)
2 tablespoons dried peppermint or spearmint
2 tablespoons lemon balm
1 tablespoon rose hips, crushed
1 teaspoon dried lavender (a little goes a long way)
½–1 teaspoon cinnamon chips or dried ginger pieces (adjust for how warm you want it)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and stir gently to blend.
Store in a glass jar away from light and heat. The blend will stay fresh for several months.
To Brew:
Use 1 teaspoon of the tea per 8 oz hot water.
Steep 3–5 minutes, covered.
If you want a sweeter, rounder cup, add a touch of honey or a slice of lemon.
If you love mint, add a little more. If you’re lavender-shy, use just a pinch. Herbal tea blending is meant to feel intuitive, and you can absolutely adjust this to suit your own taste.
