Hello, everyone! My name is Ashley. Im from Wisconsin. I live in Wisconsin currently but hopefully moving down to ohio again this next year. I finally pulled the trigger and joined the group. Even tho I have to keep things quite about my spiritual endeavors. My SO is very against anything that doesnt fall into baptist views and perspectives. Im taking an important risk my soul needs. I’ve been feeling quite the pull to get back into my spiritual work inwhich I feel that I am a beginner at.
I needed a place of acceptance information and camaraderie to feel safe in exploring my spiritual self. I wanted to connect with my spirit guides and do more spirit work.
I feel like my life has had a lot of experience in it. A lot of human life emotional experiences, most not good, but experiences, nonetheless. I think my soul’s telling me it’s time to work on my spirit experience while i’m here and not so much and not so much on my human one..
i’d really love someone to talk to take me under their wing. If you feel pulled towards me, reach out towards me. I think that’s the best way for me to handle this new overwhelming platform of like minded individuals. If you feel the connect, please connect with me. I feel like there’s someone out here that i’m supposed to connect with meet with talk with.I just don’t know why..
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!
Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, an Eclectic Witch and one of the moderators. It’s very nice to meet you
Please know that you’re welcome here! The coven community is very diverse and is blessed with folks walking many paths and various traditions. I think the journey is more fun when we have a place to gather together Please feel free to explore around and jump into any open discussions or activities that call to you. A good place to begin is in the weekly Merry Meet Monday space as it lists current happenings. There is a brand new one every Monday.
While the forum doesn’t have an official mentorship program, feel free to chat with folks around the forum! There are many talented and wise practitioners to discuss magick with. There is also the new 2026 Magickal Study Buddies space to find and connect with study partners.
I’m wishing you all the best with your magickal studies, Snow. Have fun on your journey!
Hi, @SNOW! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum!
I’m sorry your SO is being obstructive. I’m glad you are sticking to your guns and doing what is right for you! I don’t have a lot of advice. Well, I do but I don’t know what kind you are looking for. I can tell you that there’s a book that helps you set up a sort of inner temple so you can do all your magic in your head while meditating. It might be safer for you to do that instead of having an altar, because of your SO. It’s The Inner Temple of Witchcraft: Magick, Meditation and Psychic Development. I’ve heard that it’s good, but I haven’t read it. Still, it’s something you can download on your phone and check out if you want to.
If you have any questions or anything, all you need to do is ask, and there will be a bunch of people ready to give you a hand. I look forward to getting to know you!
Bry and Amethyst covered a lot that might help you. I’m jumping in to shiver with you - it’s been a tough couple of weeks for cold for y’all.
The Coven is a wonderful and welcoming place. The Forum areas are full of individual and group posts so it is always fun to look around - and to participate.
There is a bit of discussion about those of us who are in the broom closet but the consensus I like is - it doesn’t matter. We are who we are, not evangelists or proselytizers.
Welcome, @SNOW and Merry Meet! We’re so glad you’re here with us now. It’s a tough situation for your SO to not support your personal spiritual journey, but you are in a safe space here, and always welcome. As @BryWisteria says, we have no “official” mentor system here, but you can meet everyone just hanging out with us on the forums here, taking on a Study Buddy, or participating in our online events. The door is always open!
I’m Feathertip, in SE Michigan, so we’re practically neighbors, even with your possible move to Ohio. We’re from all over the world, as you’ll see. I’m a lifelong Pagan expanding my path slowly but surely.
Take your time while you explore your spiritual experiences. There’s a lot of great information here on the forum, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions about anything. Blessings!
My name is Kat, and I practice bioregional animism grounded in the North Carolina Piedmont. I’ve been practicing for over 30 years, and I create my own divination tools adapted to my local ecosystem, including ogham staves and seasonal tree divination sets. I work with herbalism and gardening, and I’ve worked with exotic and domestic animals for 40+ years. My practice is hands-on. I craft tools, make runes, deity figurines, and bind my own Books of Shadows. I explore the collaboration of magick and science.
There is a wonderful search function that will help you dig for more information in the forums!
We’re glad you’re here. Make yourself comfortable, explore at your own pace, and feel free to ask any questions you might have!
So glad you decided to take the step with us and join. I have been here almost a year, and Spells8 is definitely a great place to be. No judgments, no “that’s weird” attitudes, and anybody or everybody is willing to lend you a hand.
Remember there is no correct nor wrong way to do anything in your practice. What many people feel are “the right way” to do something. Is usually based on some on the Wiccan “traditions”. I quote the word traditions, because modern Wicca, no matter what is said, are all modern constructs, 19th and 20th century. So, how can we know exactly (did they call the goddess? did they perform the “kiss” of initiation?) what happened before? I stick to what seems like basics. I use candles and incense. I perform a circle, or not, depending on the “mood of the moment”. I follow what I am called to do. Listen to the nudge of the universe. “They” will guide you in what to do. How, you may ask? You will get a nudge…maybe something is working…you’ll know. If something isn’t working, you’ll know (for me, I start to feel that I should do something different, so I go ahead) Following the nudge, has given me guidance of which deities to work with.
Please have a look at everything here….there is much to see and learn here. Have great fun exploring.
My name is carrianne an eclectic witch . Welcome to the coven. Here you will be made to feel welcome in safe place. Sorry to hear of your troubles but please be assured you will be made to feel welcomed.
Id love to see your sets because i have very little atm but im making alot of things but for me i feel like having tools and an area that is just mine with being easily hidden as something id like. Having tools and ritual working and routine and things helps me focus on what’s at hand and keeps my mind from wandering. I think, but i’m just beginning to functionally.Use the knowledge and my pull and interests
I had to giggle a bit at your request for friendship. You’ll get lots of responses, there!
Even if we don’t have mentors, there is still a lot to learn. Take your time. Explore what interests you. Post whatever questions you have. We are all teachers and learners, here.
I understand the feeling. I’ve been at this for nearly 50 years- longer than I knew about witchcraft- yet I’ve lately been letting it rest and germinate like seeds, so I’m also beginning again. This is quite common. May your path be enriched!
Good! You have plenty to share, when you are ready. That makes you just as much a teacher as a student, in my humble opinion. I’m looking forward to learning from and with you.
This is exactly what tools are for. You have the right attitude. Perhaps search for “travel altars” for something small and easy to hide. Inner temple work may be something to grow into as you hone your ability to focus. One of my travel altars is small enough to wear as a necklace. It contains colored dolls I made of embroidery floss, one for each of the elements. The purse which carries them flattens out as an altar cloth. Another is a beaded medallion of symbols in my personal system. Such things are easy to hide and use whenever you have a moment, even if all you can do is a trip to the bathroom. I learned early that little things throughout the day can create a nice bond with your personal spirituality.
You don’t have to have a certain book to get the information you need. There are pages right here and on the main site about the same thing. Start here:
Hi @SNOW and welcome to Infinite Roots. I’m Jayne, originally from the UK but now living in Texas. I selected the witch name Greenbriar as I feel it aligns closely with my practice, which leans towards earth and nature magic.
As others have said, there is a lot of information here on the website and in the forum. While we don’t have an official mentoring system, there are lots of activities that you can join in daily, weekly – group rituals, Thoughtful Thursday, Fun Friday, rune and tarot practices.
Feel free to join in any conversation that interests you and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
With regard to the book that @Amethyst suggested, I think that would be a wonderful option for you in pursuing your spiritual interests. Since you don’t have a Kindle, see if you can download a Kindle app to your phone. It looks like there are free apps for both iPhone and Android phones.
Hello Ashley! Welcome to the forum and enjoy the safe space you just entered for studying, connection and hanging out with like minded people!
I´m Katharina, an art-witch and art therapist from Vienna, Austria! I´m practicing magick very much through art making! I love altar craft, I love candle making, poppet work, spell boxes and jars and working in my Book of Shadows is a big part of my pratice. I love all things tarot and practice this art since many moons.
The forum is huge and it takes time to get to know everything. The people here are very sweet and helpful, so just make yourself known if there´s any questions, someone will certainly show up to help you.
I’m pretty sure you can buy kindle books and download them on your phone, or on your desktop. The phone would probably be the best bet! See if you can download the kindle app, and it’ll let you explore books to buy. Wishing you lots of good energy and luck!
Thank you so much for trusting this space with something so tender and honest. Taking a step like this, especially when you have to keep parts of yourself quiet at home, is a brave choice. Listening to that inner pull, even when it feels risky or overwhelming, is powerful magic in itself.
I’m Stephanie, or as I’m known here, Eira of the Living Hearth, an eclectic witch from California, and I want you to know you’re not alone in walking this kind of path. Many of us came here needing exactly what you described: acceptance, safety, information, and community. Wanting to reconnect with your spirit guides, deepen spirit work, and shift from surviving human experiences into tending your spiritual life makes so much sense given what you’ve lived through.
You don’t have to rush or have it all figured out. Being a “beginner” isn’t a flaw. Let things unfold gently. Connections here tend to happen organically, through shared conversations and energy, and I trust that the right ones will find you when the timing is right.
I’m really glad you joined, Ashley. You belong here, and your voice is welcome.
Blessed Be.
Absolutely! Responding as a reminder to take pictures when I get back from the store. On my way to restock in preparation for another winter storm, and then I’m home for the day.
Welcome to the group. That’s a bummer about your SO not being tolerant. This is the right place to be no judgements, just support and respect. I’m sure that you find someone to guide you in your exploration. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
