Recipe Variations:

Boozy eggnog pie – Add a splash of brandy, rum (or rum extract), or bourbon to the pie mixture for an adult twist.

Crust – Try a gingersnap crust or an Oreo crust for a fun alternative to the classic graham cracker crust.

Spices – Swap the nutmeg for a pinch of cinnamon or even a mix of cinnamon and cloves for a slightly different spiced flavor.

Chocolate– You can add a layer of melted chocolate or chocolate ganache to the crust before adding the filling.

Peppermint – Sprinkle crushed candy canes or peppermint candies over the whipped cream for a festive touch.

Eggnog latte pie – Stir in a teaspoon of instant espresso powder for a coffee-flavored version.

Caramel Drizzle – Drizzle caramel sauce over the top for extra sweetness.

Nuts– Sprinkle toasted pecans, walnuts, or sliced almonds on top for added crunch and flavor.

FAQs:

What does eggnog taste like?

Eggnog has a creamy, sweet flavor with hints of vanilla and warm spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. If it is spiked, you’ll also taste rum, bourbon, or brandy.

Can I Make this Pie in a Different Pan?

If you do not have a pie pan, you can make this recipe in a square baking dish. You’ll need to create a crust with Graham cracker crumbs and a little melted butter.

What can I serve with this pie?

This pie pairs wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee, cocoa, or even a holiday cocktail.

Is this pie kid-friendly?

Yes, as written, this recipe is completely kid-friendly because it does not have alcohol in it.

Why is my filling not setting properly?

If the filling is too soft, it may be because the eggnog or pudding mix wasn’t cold enough. Be sure both are well-chilled before mixing. Using instant pudding mix is also key because cook-and-serve pudding will not set the same way.

Storage Instructions:

Refrigerate – Cover the pie loosely with plastic wrap or foil and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For the best results, add the whipped cream garnish just before serving.

Freezer – This pie can be frozen for up to a month. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. Then you can just thaw the pie in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Add the whipped cream garnish and nutmeg topping after it has fully thawed.
