Wow! I searched around the web, but most of the maps I found don’t agree on if the lights would be visible where I’m at. Last night was very cloudy and windy (we even had some snow yesterday!) but if it’s clear tonight, I’d love to try and spot them!
Supposedly here in Alaska we had them (we have them frequently throughout the winter) and these were red. I missed them as I was cuddling with our dog on the bed
Edit: not northern night related specifically, but I love to star gaze and when I lived in Mesa Arizona the light pollution was so bad I could only really see the Big Dipper and Orion’s Belt!
They were also bright pink here in the South Island of New Zealand. I’m blessed to be living in a Dark Skies sanctuary, which is marvellous for star gazing.
Me too beautiful! City lights ruin everything. I never realize how much until I take a trip to the mountains or stroll the local beach at night. The sky is incredibly amazing.
That sounds so amazing - I don’t think I’ve heard it put like that before, a Dark Skies sanctuary. You’re so very fortunate to escape from the light pollution of modern times, and live like our ancestors did.
