Observation of Life since Practice

Magnificent Monday,

I did not know quite where to place this. My observation is about time. With the practice of Magick, and observance/knowledge of the Wheel of the Year; time seems to go by so quickly!:mantelpiece_clock: What with, the moon :last_quarter_moon_face: , the seasons, tarot pulls…there is always something different happening! Just had new moon, soon full moon, sabbat….just every couple days something else going on. Honestly, makes me :eyes: look at the :globe_showing_americas: world differently.

Joyous January….Lady Gene :magic_wand:

I think that’s lovely, and it sounds very positive. We do have a lot of sabbats, don’t we?

I have always enjoyed following the Moon cycles, watching the Sun angles, shadows moving across the yard, and how critters act at various times of the year. It sounds weird but I just love to observe.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying your practice! :sparkles: :sparkling_heart:

I’m with you and Feathertip, I think the natural changes bring a lot of joy and excitement to our lives  It’s something that developed with my practice. I remember hating spring when I was a child (I was not a fan of school, and being trapped inside during spring semester was tough  ) but now I look forward to seeing the snowdrops and hellebores, and the start of the planting season :seedling:

I think being aware of the current state of nature and finding ways to connect with it helps people feel more in touch with the world and the cosmos. From the moon phases to the seasons to the weather, it’s nice to have so many things to look forward to!

It really does go quickly, doesn’t it? And I honestly think it picks up speed as we age. Four years used to seem like an eternity to me (that was my whole undergraduate college career!) but now I blink and we’ve somehow gone from 2022 to 2026

I’ve started to see time as less and less of an actual cosmic force, and more of a human-developed way to understand the world. It’s a lot to wrap my mind around and is still something I’m researching and pondering about.

All that is to say, time is a fascinating thing to study in one’s practice!

Bright blessings on a terrific Tuesday  :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Tremendous Tuesday Bry,

Yes, I think the same about time. This is why I figured out time goes by so fast as we age. Since time :mantelpiece_clock: is a human construct….when we are 5 years old, 1 year equals 20% of our life. When we are 25 years old, 5 years is now 20%. Now, 5 years is the same as 1 used to be. So, as we get older, the years represent less “time” in our life, so the years seem to go by “faster”. I look at time also as “human” because of the “veil”. We “humans” think of time in relation to our existence. We think of time as linear because we live in “time”; however, because of the craft, we understand that “time” is not necessarily how we think of it. Think of “A Wrinkle of Time”. This is my take on the way we view time and why. Lady Gene :magic_wand:

My take on why time speeds up is because, as children, we live in the moment. As adults we get trained into looking ahead, thinking about the future, what we have to accomplish, etc. We need to live in the now. Put our attention on the moment we are in. Then things will slow down, and we won’t miss so much.

Funny, for me it is quite the opposite. Through observing the wheel of the year and the festivities I´m much more aware and in the moment. I think that without it the months would just fly by even more. Especially in the city, where one is not so close to nature and the changing of the seasons is easily overlooked, it helps me to stay oriented throughout the year, if that makes sense.
But yes, in general, the older a person gets, the faster time seems to pass, but this has to do with our brain.

Brightest blessings! :dizzy:

Katharina, I see your point in how time will be slower by observing so much. For me, though, it seems to be going faster than I can blink. The day starts, and suddenly its evening. Probably somewhat to do with household schedules. I’m up at 4am, others rise at 4a, 7-8a, then Noon and 3-4p. So, others days are starting, and I’m winding down.:open_mouth: This also makes it feel as if it is flying by.:airplane:

Take a Bow, Tuesday, Lady Gene :magic_wand:

This is beautifully worded, and I agree! The deeper into spiritual topics one wanders, the more often the concept of time seems to appear. It is a very interesting lens in which we can examine our perceptions of the world, the cosmos, and our part in it. And it does seem, at least from my ever-developing grasp of it, that time isn’t truly linear on the universal stage. So much to explore (and seemingly never enough time in a human day to do so!)

This is a great topic - thank you for opening up the discussion, Lady Gene!

Blessed be

It is true that the responsibilities pile on as we age, and those responsibilities have us running from one task to another. I think this is a good point about our perception of time being tied to how present we are in the moment!

Yes, thank goodness for the changing seasons and the wonders of nature! They really are an anchor (for awareness, appreciation, and my sanity too I think  ) in our busy modern lives
