Olive Oil Bread Dip

Olive Oil Bread Dip

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients:

2-3 tsp chopped fresh Italian parsley
1 1/2 tsp dry Italian seasoning
1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp granulated garlic or garlic powder
1/8 tsp onion powder
1 large garlic clove, finely minced
2-3 tsp grated parmesan cheese
1/2-2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1-2 tsp balsamic vinegar OR balsamic glaze

Directions:

In a small bowl, use a whisk or a fork to combine fresh parsley, Italian seasoning, rosemary, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, thyme, granulated garlic, onion powder, and minced garlic.

Add Parmesan cheese and olive oil, stir to combine.

Drizzle with 1-2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar and serve with Italian bread or French bread for dipping. You can also enjoy it as a dip for steak, chicken, pork, fish, or vegetables.

Notes:

Oil – Extra virgin olive oil is classic, but you could also use an alternative high-quality oil, melted butter, or vegetable oil.

Seasonings – You could use dry oregano and dry basil in place of the dry Italian seasoning.

Cheese – You can use Parmesan cheese, Parmesan Reggiano cheese, or Parmesan Romano cheese. You can also omit the cheese altogether.

Vinegar – I recommend drizzling the vinegar on top rather than mixing it into the olive oil. You could also use balsamic glaze for an even sweeter option.

Bulk Herb Preparation – You can easily multiply the dry seasonings and keep this handy in your pantry for quick and easy preparation. Store dried herbs for up to 6 months. (Omit fresh garlic, fresh parsley, Parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinegar; add these ingredients just before serving.)

Storage and Leftovers:

Leftovers – Once the ingredients are fully combined, you can store this olive oil in an airtight container, chilled in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Due to the fresh garlic, I don’t recommend storing it longer.

Bring it to room temperature and give it a good stir just before serving.

Shelf Life for Seasoning Blend – If you prefer to make only the dry seasoning blend, minus the fresh parsley, Parmesan cheese, and fresh minced garlic, you can! Store it in a spice jar or airtight container for up to 6 months and add the fresh garlic, fresh parsley, Parmesan, and balsamic vinegar just before serving.
