I’d like to take a moment to humbly request that we listen a bit closer to our pets. They know things before we do. Animals can smell cancer and other illnesses. They sense earthquakes and storms beforehand. Animals are excellent judges of character, too.
I had an experience, this morning while I was reading. All of a sudden, Albus Bird took off on a tear, flying into the kitchen and living room and back for no apparent reason. When he got back to his cage, he huddled in a corner and would only make sounds of a low pitched “Purp.” I call him “Purple” when he does that: it is his alert of danger and usually means there is a predator outside. As time passed and I continued reading, his attitude did not change as though an external danger were here and flew away. I changed my position and covered up, as I was getting chilly. Moments later, I passed into a fevered sleep. Two hours later, he woke me with his usual activity. It was only then I realised how cold I’d been in my fever.
I didn’t understand at the time, but Albus was sensing my illness and trying to warn me. I am grateful for his warning.
Universe, bless our pets and their wisdom. Help us to understand them and work with them.
Oh wow… what a powerful moment between you and Albus.
The way our familiars tune into us is nothing short of magick, and your baby was absolutely on duty this morning. The way he “Purple’d” and stayed alert until you finally slipped into that fevered sleep… that speaks volumes. He knew something was off and wasn’t about to leave you unguarded.
I’m so glad he woke you when things shifted — what a loyal, intuitive companion. These are the moments that remind us how deeply our animals walk this path with us.
Blessings to Albus for watching over you, and blessings to you for recognizing the message, beautiful.
Wow @georgia, I’m so glad your okay. I’ve heard that animals have a 6th sense, but never thought about it being all animals. I know that some service dogs can sense when their owners are about to have a seizure, and I read somewhere that the Egyptians worshipped cats because their purrs were believed to heal (I always think about that when my cat lays on my chest at night). It just never clicked in my head about birds. I do remember hearing something about how all the birds will disappear (fly away) before a Tsunami hits because they know it’s going to happen before anyone else does, so that makes. I will be more mindful now about all animals, not just cats or dogs.
Does anyone remember 2019? Did pets get sick? I have a vague memory of something after the Spirit screaming at the end of August. Just curious, since I did hear something recently about pets having more illness than usual. It may be a heads-up.
I’ll be honest, everything pre-pandemic feels like a different lifetime at this point, but I believe so. If memory serves, 2019 was the year I said goodbye to my good old dog (from age-related ailments).
