Oh my! I have not done this since before I knew what spells were!
For the sake of truth, I must add this. This is not the type of spell we are used to. There are no candles or incense. I don’t invoke deities. All I know is it worked for me. Maybe it will work for you. Feel free to modify it for your own practice.
This might be coming a bit late for finals, but I never seem to remember to post it at the beginnings of semesters. Save it and try more next semester?
I’m my youth, I saw my mind as a hallway lined with doors. At one end was a great window or two (the eyes are the windows to the Soul), sometimes covered with a curtain or shutters. In the middle of the other end were a pair of high royal doors which led to my Soul itself. One of the side doors led to a room full of filing cabinets which held everything I ever experienced or learned. Across from It was a door leading to a library filled with every book I ever read.
Every time I sat down with a book, I would sit myself down in my mind library with an image of the same book in front of me. This helped me focus. Whenever I’d turn a page, I’d look at the layout of the page first. No details, yet; don’t start reading, just pay attention. This will come in handy later! It takes more time to read it or write about it than it takes to do it.
Notice the white space on the page. How is it framed? Where are the paragraphs? How long is each paragraph? What pictures or graphics are on the page? Are there foot notes? Did they use large print headings? Is there indented print? I then briefly see the same spacing and pics on the pages in my inner library.
Then I start reading normally. When I notice something I feel may be important, I imagine it on the page in my mind library with all the details around it like where it is in the paragraph and what it looks like on the physical page.
When it comes time for the test, I read the question and recall where I saw it before I remember what was being said about it. I can actually see the pages I read, all the details around the passage I want to remember, and finally I can reread the words I wanted to remember. This even works with passages I didn’t think were important at the time of the first reading though they may be a bit faded at times.
I hope this spell helps those of you taking classes!
