She’s not interested in food at all and is just fading away. We took her in to the vet yesterday and they did blood work - she has kidney issues going on, so they gave her IV fluids etc. But this morning she’s not any better. I just spoke with the vet and our options were to send her in to the hospital to be on IV fluids, and more tests to see if anything else is going on, but she couldn’t give any guarantees, and we could be in the same situation in another week, having spent thousands on a hospital stay and tests.
So Eric and I are taking her in to the vet in a couple of hours, to have her humanely put to sleep. Eric said he went in to pet her and the look in her eyes told him she was ready.
My heart is breaking, but I’m also somewhat at peace, knowing we gave her and her four kittens that we rescued 15 years ago a wonderful, safe life. (she was a stray that had kittens in the empty lot next to our house)
Poor sweet kitty My girlfriend went through something very similar with her Sammy, worsening kidney issues and she just stopped eating, there was nothing anyone could do She was a very old cat, around 20, no one knew her exact age as she had been a wild cat. She was very loved, and sounds like so was little Cali
Oh no, I’m so sorry I am glad that you were able to spend another month with her and I know she’s grateful for all that you’ve done for her! I’ll tell Donut to look for her so he can show her around :
My heart goes out to you and Eric - I’m so sorry for your loss. Cali was a very lucky kitty to have spent her time with people who love and care about her so much
I’m sending love and healing energy as you honor her memory. May she watch over you with a smile from the other side
