Funny Friday Friends,
I can’t believe what just happened. About an hour ago, I received a text from a politician who was canvassing my area yesterday. He asked if I wanted to do a commercial with him on Sunday for his campaign! I told him sure, that I have done extra work for TV and movies since 1971. And with that text, like this one, I had the laughing face first.
He texted back, and now I gave him my e-mail for the specifics from the “film” crew, probably about colors and stuff.

Yes, definitely for the close-up. I came in second place for the National Dole Juice commercials, I’ve done TV, shows, commercials, extras in movies….definitely ready. And yes, I do like him or I would’ve said no. No money involved, I’m not getting paid and wouldn’t want to anyway.
I’ll let y’all know how it goes. Probably be yapping about it Sunday afternoon

Got the e-mail this morning about no bright colors, large prints nor stripes. Okey, dokey, tomorrow 9am. I did ask for a heads up on what we will be talking about so I won’t be hit with an “ahhhhh”

Just received the e-mail about what to talk about. It’s just filming. We can actually talk about Taco Bell, they’ll be dubbing it over. Whatever, fine with me. Like I said, I’ve done this work before. Funny note, about 2 months ago as my son and I were coming out of a casino, we caught them filming, and stayed behind the pillar and watched the whole thing. Boy, did that bring back memories!!

When you and your son saw some filming being done, do you have any idea what it was for, like a TV show or movie or something? How exciting!
oh yeah, it was for a local commercial for Boulder Station Casino. We saw it about a month later on the local spots
Can’t wait to see the spots for this political one. I’ll have to watch some local news, especially as it gets closer to voting time.
I guess the dubbing, will just be showing him talking to constituents as the voice-over says, whatever.

So this is what I get, The King of Wands is seeing the “big picture” (as in ‘movies’), the Jack of Wands is telling me this is gonna be fun (that is what I thought, why I have the giggles), and the King of Cups reminds me, that this is just fun (cups/emotion) and don’t let it go to my head.

Sensational Sunday Sorcerers,
Well, they just left. We took 15-20 takes, took about 45 minutes. They camera crew didn’t know that I had experience. They started to tell me, after the third sentence, I asked, “they didn’t tell you about me?”…ah..“no”–so I told 'em about my TV commercials here in Vegas in '71, Magnum, PI in the '80’s, and the Ocean’s movies and 21 filmed here in town. So he’s like, “oh, okay.” I just told him to tell me where to stand, what angle they wanted…So, the Dr. walks up and I open the door. CUT…his back was to the camera. Ah…now, I get it. I show him a better place to stand. We have some takes of me meeting him in the drive-way. CUT…back to the camera again. I explain to him, his face has to be facing the camera, we will only look at each other through the sides of our eyes, we need to both be slightly facing the camera. Then, me opening the door, over my shoulder shots. This one was a little easier. Anyway, he liked what I did so much, he filmed me making a statement of endorsement for Dr. O to post on his social media, campaign page. So, why not? It was all a bunch of fun. And to wonder, that I thought my “camera” days were over.
