Post Submitting Issues

I’ve noticed it happening more lately, but when I quote someone’s text to create a new reply in the thread but then click on the Reply to The Topic instead of it being a direct reply to the person, it tries to close the draft and I have to click keep editing to keep from losing the draft. It doesn’t happen every time and I’m still trying to see if I can replicate it reliably, but I thought I’d share to see if anyone had the same issue or if there was something I need to fix on my end!

Thanks!

Hmm  interesting!

I haven’t heard of this being an issue but I’m going to play around and see if I can replicate it, too.

For context – are you using the app or the desktop site?

It happens on both. I tried to create a post on the app by highlighting your text and then change it to reply to the topic and it did it…

Thought my phone didn’t screenshot it, so I tried again, it worked fine. So it’s inconsistent.

I got the second part of the issue SS as well. Same thing. In app, quoting text to start a new reply, changed it to reply to topic. Got a similar pop up to the one above, clicked Resume Editing and this pops up

Do you happen to have any drafted comments already? Sometimes this happens to me if I switch from the app to my computer. I haven’t had it happen when I select “reply to topic” though, but I usually don’t do that  I’ll play around with it some more but I haven’t been able to recreate the issue on my end.

Nope, these are first tries at a reply. I see nothing in Drafts.

I’ll double check my laptop in a bit but there are no drafts on the app.

Appreciate the help trouble shooting this!

How strange! I’m not sure what could be causing it. There may be an issue with the system trying to save the first part as a draft when you click “Reply to Post”, so it recognizes that as trying to create a second reply. I’ll tag in @Francisco, too - maybe he knows something!

Of course! Software and digital stuff will do random things sometimes  and changing ONE letter or line in code can mess up so much stuff. There may have been a software update that messed something up – no clue!

Thanks for bringing this up! I’ll also troubleshoot and try to replicate the issue on my end to see if there’s a pattern. If I can reproduce it, I’ll follow up with more details.

In the meantime, if you notice any specific conditions that trigger it more reliably, feel free to share!

@Artemisia Is this issue still occurring? Just yesterday I did an update to the forum software, so maybe that helped. Can you confirm? Also, what device are you using? Thanks!!

I’ll poke around this weekend and see if I can replicate it again and let you know!

Yep, it’s still happening randomly to me. At this point I’m assuming it’s a me problem with no one else experiencing it  I’m used to it popping up occasionally and it doesn’t stop me from posting so I’m all good :woman_shrugging:t2:

Ignore the above quote. I was testing on my machine because I felt I had seen something like it. I highlighted your text (up popped the selections to Quote/Copy Quote/etc) and I changed to reply. It dutifully copied what was highlighted into a new post. So… no help but at least acknowledgement that it seemed familiar. Maybe it was just me fat fingering something when I saw it.

Just to narrow things down, could you let me know what phone model and Android version you’re using?

You can find the Android version by going to Settings > About phone > Software information (or a similar path depending on your device). That might help in figuring out if it’s device-specific!
