A great spell….it’s easy and beginner friendly.
A Samhain blessing to light the way through the dark months ahead.
You’ll need:
-
1 small pumpkin - must be carved ahead of time
-
A tealight or small candle
-
A slip of paper and pen
-
A pinch of salt (for cleansing)
-
A quiet moment
Step 1 — Prepare your space
Find a calm spot where you won’t be disturbed. Place the pumpkin in front of you. Sprinkle a little salt around it in a circle, saying softly: “I cleanse this space, this light, this time. What’s done is done, what’s mine is mine.”
Take a deep breath. Let the old season fall away with your exhale. Feel free to stay in stillness as long as it feels right for you.
Step 2 — Set your intention
On the slip of paper, write one thing you want to release from this year — something that’s outgrown its place in your life. Then write one thing you wish to invite in — courage, peace, new beginnings… whatever feels true.
Fold the paper and place it inside the hollow of your pumpkin
Step 3 — Light the flame
Place the candle inside the pumpkin on top of the folded paper.
As the flame flickers, speak aloud: “With this light, I honor the turning of the wheel.
I release what’s heavy, and welcome what heals.”
Sit for a few moments, watching the glow. Feel your own light steady and warm inside you.
Step 4 — Close the spell
When you’re ready, snuff the candle.
Thank your pumpkin for holding space for your magick.
Bury the paper in the earth — a quiet promise of renewal.
