Steakhouse Kebabs ![]()
Prep 10 mins
Cook 20 mins
Active 30 mins
Marinating and Resting Time 65 mins
Total 95 mins
Serves 4 to 6
Ingredients:
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice from 1 lemon
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 medium cloves)
2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin tips, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
8 ounces cremini mushrooms, cleaned and halved
1 large red onion, sliced into 1 1/2-inch cubes (about 3 onion layers each)
Directions:
Whisk together oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, mustard, garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper in a small bowl. Place beef cubes and mushrooms in a large resealable plastic bag. Add marinade and seal the bag, pressing out as much air as possible. Marinate, refrigerated, for at least 1 and up to 5 hours.
Thread beef onto skewers, alternating with mushrooms and onions.
Light one chimney full of charcoal. When all charcoal is lit and covered with gray ash, pour out and spread the coals evenly over the entire surface of the coal grate. Set cooking grate in place, cover grill, and allow to preheat for 5 minutes. Clean and oil the grilling grate. Grill skewers until beef is well seared on all sides and center of beef registers between 125-130°F (52-54°C) on an instant-read thermometer, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer skewers to a platter and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
Notes:
If using bamboo skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes before using.

Sounds delicious, but since I’ve gotten older I can no longer handle those peppers. Let us know how good it is when you make it!
It sounds delicious! I have a friend who loves spicy stuff, maybe I will make it for his birthday party. I will substitute some ingredients though, as we dont have them here
Pretzel buns for burgers are so good! ![]()
We started getting them a few years ago and now we can’t go back to the regular buns when we make burgers at home. They’re so buttery and delicious!
Sounds like a great recipe - thanks for sharing it, John!

@BryWisteria so what time is dinner? I’ll be over at 5pm lol
Hahaha I wish we were having pretzel bun burgers! Couldn’t find them in the store this week (there was a mad rush for burger and hot dog buns because of the holiday). I’ll have to look again another time! The pretzel rolls are worth the wait

Black Bean Burger ![]()
Yields: 4 servings
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Ingredients:
2 cans (14.5 ounces each) of seasoned black beans
1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated white onion
1 whole egg
1/2 tsp. chili powder
salt and pepper
hot sauce (I used Cholula)
8 slices of Swiss cheese
olive oil, for frying
Butter, for frying and grilling
4 whole Kaiser rolls or good hamburger buns
Mayonnaise
Lettuce or other greens
Sliced tomato
Directions:
Drain, but do not rinse, the black beans. Place them in a bowl and use a fork to mash them. Keep mashing until they’re mostly broken up, but still have some whole beans visible. Add the breadcrumbs, onion, egg, chili powder, salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Stir until everything is combined, then let the mixture sit for 5 minutes.
Heat a tablespoon or two of olive oil with an equal amount of butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Form the bean mixture into patties slightly larger than the buns you’re using (the patties will not shrink when they cook.) Place the patties in the skillet and cook them about 5 minutes on the first side. Flip them to the other side, place 2 slices of cheese onto each patty, and continue cooking them for another 5 minutes, or until the burgers are heated through. (Place a lid on the skillet to help the cheese melt if needed.)
Grill the buns on a griddle with a little butter until golden. Spread the buns with mayonnaise and hot sauce, then place the patties on the buns. Top with lettuce and tomato, then pop on the lids!
