Sept 22 Remember them :candle:

Martha Corey.

Mary Easty.

Ann Pudeator.

Alice Parker.

Mary Parker.

Wilmot Redd.

Six women that were killed for being “witches”.

Six lives taken from this world. All because someone said, “witch”. These are their names we need to remember.

Martha Corey.

Mary Easty.

Ann Pudeator.

Alice Parker.

Mary Parker.

Wilmot Redd.

During 1692 in the town of Salem and surrounding areas. Many women were charged with witchcraft and sent to jail and put to death.

They weren’t just a list of names that you read about.

They were women.

Mothers.

Wives.

Friends and neighbors.

Daughters…

They had lives just like you and I.

We should remember these women on Sept 22nd that were executed. We can take the time to remember what they stood for as human beings.

We don’t need to glorify what happened. Or pretend we know more about these women then we do.

Just remember…

Take the time tonight to light a candle in their names.

And remember how far humans will go when they allow fear to take over their lives.

Terrifying Tuesday Silverbear,

Two of my ancestresses are listed, Lydia and Sarah Dustin. In 1978, when I was 14, we visited Haverhill, MA and learned about my family history. Their mother, was kidnapped by Indians, and she scalped 10 of them and escaped with 2 others. Even though she was a woman, Increase Mather, petitioned that she should be paid the bounty and given recognition for returning and bringing 2 others back safely. She was considered a witch by some, and her 2 daughters were accused. I believe they were freed.

I was researching my ancestry and my 11th Great Grandfather John Tarleton married a lady named Frances Hooker and her mother was Lady Susannah " Susan" maiden name Pym, married name Hooker she was " My 12 Great Grandmother " of 4 offspring accused of Witchcraft in the Salem Witch Trials “1692” some of her children went to America " Massachusetts" from England and one of her son’s Rev Thomas Hooker who was my 11th Great Uncle " He was the Father of American Democracy" this research has taken me on so many journeys how we are all connected and one of Great Grandfather was the first British Man to be hung on the Mayfair.

I’m a little late to this but I light a candle :candle: and then said a little prayer :folded_hands: for 6 listed and all the other “witches”. May their souls find peace and rest. :peace_symbol:
