Lately out of the corners of my eyes I see shadows. Sometimes they are people, sometimes the are smallish animals. I normally see them as they are rounding a corner in my house so I only catch the rear of them or legs or tails. Yesterday on the way to work I saw someone crossing a street in front of me, it was dark, I slammed on my brakes to avoid hitting them. They disappeared as soon as I hit my brakes! I am just curious to see what others think. None of the “vibes” I get are evil or malicious. What do the masses think is going on?

You are seeing spirits. I’ve had similar experiences. Not on the regular however it’s happened numerous times in my life. I can relate to the animal ones. After my cat of 20 years passed away, I saw her shadow in my peripheral vision for about 1 year after she passed, in all the places she used to normally frequent in my house. It was like she was still there (her and I were super close). As soon as I would direct my focus where I was seeing her, it would disappear. I also had a neighbor friend over and I saw all these black shadows following him around. It was a little creepy. I never had him come in the house again after that. That did not seem normal and its the only time Ive seen shadows follow someone around. Did not want whatver it was in my house. I told him about it and he said it was very “shamanic” of me to notice. He was very new agey and I do not know what type of spiritual work he was doing that created this because I had seen him numerous occasions before but outside and minus the black shadows.
Yours seem to be more general spirits that are around. Did this just start recently or is it somewhat normal for you? (could be related to your particular location)
Also, have you called in any spirits lately if you are a practicing witch? Sometimes we can call in spirits (helpers and others) unknowingly or knowingly.

I have lived in our house going on 13yrs now. I thought the location may have something to do with it, but I have ruled that out as I am a paranormal investigator and that is one of the first things we look at. This is a recent development. I did some mediation and consulted with a pendulum a few minutes ago and learned that whatever I am seeing means no harm. I am a practicing witch, albeit new, but I have not called upon any spirits. I have cast a few circles and invoked the quarters but that is all.

I see shadows all the time. Usually out of the corner of my eye. Not necessarily human shadows, but more animal and insects. As soon as I turn to focus like @SilverMoonStar they disappear. I think it’s because of my practice and working with nature. I work with a spirit board frequently and I think a lot of what I see is remnants left over from that. Not necessarily whole spirits, but bits and pieces that got left behind.

If you are a paranormal investigator, you could definitely be bringing spirits home with you wherever you are going. I am not an investigator but an empath and have brought attachments home with me unknowingly. While I have a high interest in the paranormal bc of my own experiences, I purposely do not investigate for this reason. I know things would come home with me. I would say this could be a real possibility related to the investigating. I do urge caution in those circumstances. If you dont want to see them you can ask them to leave, or ask how you can help them be on their way. When you are investigating do you ask questions or are you with a group who is asking questions trying to connect? Do you do any protection measures before you investigate?

If you are going to continue to investigate, I would recommend a few things. Imagine yourself is a shell white protective light before and during your activities. Carry and/or wear some black tourmaline and selenite. Also, I would practice or invoke some protective spells to errr on the safe side of caution. You never know what you could be bringing home. It’s like inviting a stranger into your space or home. You want to make sure they are welcome!

I am with Black Hills Paranormal Investigations, We have been a team going on 14yrs now. We have a psychic on the team. I am Lead Investigator as well as team leader. We have 6 folks on the team. Yes, we do protections on ourselves usually at the end of an investigation. We have not investigated anywhere since the end of October as we usually take a rest during Nov and Dec. So I have ruled out something following me home. That has happened in the past, got rid of it though. Maybe the person I am catching out of the corner of my eye is my guardian Angel? As for the smallish animals, we had four cats. They all passed from old age. We have two cats now and a 90lbs dog that at random times look to the same room, both the dog and cats. Maybe they are seeing something that I don’t yet, They don’t seemed bothered so I don’t get freaked out either.

I don’t know if anything is going on specifically, but these sound like either shadow people (which can be either “good or bad”) or spirits. There may be something going on in your area that’s attracting them, or it might be connected to a certain part of the land near you. It may not be your house specifically, either.
Oh! And if you’ve been doing a lot of energy work or spells, it has also been my experience that that can attract spirits because the energy and magic act as a sort of beacon, giving the spirits a place to move to.
Also, for what it’s worth, when you invoke the quarters you are calling in the spirits of those directions.

Gotcha. My experience with angels they do not present as black. Usually white, golden or colors such as blue or purple Ive experienced. Black usually represents lower forms of energy such as living beings that have passed. Angels are higher vibrational beings that dont usually eminate black, if that helps. Your guess on the cats could be correct. You have been investigating that long? Or the group has been together that long?

I have had this experience quite often as well. They can be good companions or friends.
When I was working late nights, I’d see wings or a moving shape in the monitor in the back room or out of the corner of my eye, and look up to see a customer approaching. They were keeping me safe.
If you feel comfortable around them, don’t be hasty to get rid of them. They can be someone to talk to when alone, someone who can keep your secrets and maybe offer advice when you feel troubled about other things.
One of them even warned me when some youths asked me to advise them about using spirits. It turned out the young men had nefarious purposes.
One shadow I met would tap my shoulder when the person I was caring for was going into a mini stroke, and her cats would not only look directly at it without fear, but walk around it! It looked strange sometimes, seeing a cat curve its path around empty space when it looked like it could have more easily walked straight.
I’d say go with your gut. If you feel comfortable, let them be. If someone bothers you or someone around you, speak respectfully to them about their effects.

I have been investigating for 15yrs. I have been with Black Hills Paranormal Investigations for 14yrs and I have been team leader for about 11yrs. I did not think of passed people being as being black figures. Duh! Maybe invoking the quarters have called folks to me.

You’re welcome! Invoking the Guardians is calling the quarters, just under a different name. In this sense, you are calling in the guardian spirits of those directions and elements. They may leave when you’re done and close the circle, but you can still unknowingly send out a “call” to other spirits that might take interest in what you’re doing.

Curious Maurice, why do you usually only do protection during your investigating at the end? If you feel by doing so at the beginning it will interfere with your communication with spirit? When we cast a circle to do our magic and rituals, we call in the guardians/corners we are asking them to join us and protect/guard us in our circle. A circle is form of protection to keep out whatever is not necessary or unwanted for our magic or ritual. When you are paranormal investigating you may want to actually think of it as something similar. A circle is a barrier of protection.
I would love to do what you do as an investigator but I am too energetically sensitive to do so. Instead, I watch investigations on tv. 
However, for example if I went into a room full of people, as an empath I may absorb some energies. Maybe some good, maybe some not so good. If I do a protection meditation,
ritual or spell afterwards It may not be as helpful as Ive already absorbed those energies and they will be harder to rid of. I would have to do more cleansing, removing attachments, cutting chords, etc. If you protect all of yourselves beforehand there may be less to contend with afterwards. Your stones are great. Black tourmaline is very grounding so could help if it is something attached to the land and both black tourmaline and selenite turn negative energy into positive so can help with general protection also. Best of luck in your investigating! I really enjoy learning the history or back story of what causes paranormal cases to be as I grew up in a few haunted places myself. I like putting all the puzzle pieces together as they are a mystery sometimes. Even better if the spirits can be helped to move on.

My soul cat passed away two years ago this March and I still see him out of the corner of my eye during the day, see him run past at night and feel him jump on the bed to sleep with me but he’s the only spirit I’ve ever seen.

Do you feel him? My cat Sweeps who passed away years ago, sometimes I feel a weight on my chest, she was a fat fat cat but we loved her. I have a black dog too, in the corner of my eye, big, not sure of breed or where it originates, and a rat. The rat is unsettling because I have to make sure it’s not a living rat being in the countryside 
.
Then there’s Alu, my night demon. I haven’t seen him, but heard him and felt him. Seeing him will come next I’m sure whenever he next visits, thankfully it’s not often, as even though I know he has good intentions, he still scares the crap out of me

We have never thought about protecting ourselves at the beginning, I think we are busy focusing on putting out equipment and such. Our psychic does a walk-through before we begin, so if there is anything nasty for instance we are aware and can act upon that appropriately. Also everyone on the team now are believers. We had a retired cop on the team who was skeptical and was a devout Christian who poo-pooed on our attempts at protection. He left the team about a year ago so we are now learning about protections and such from our psychic and folks like you!
