Hello there! I’m Tommi, a solitary + urban witch with (so far) a reflective focus. Wicca and paganism is a part of my wellness toolkit, and one I hope to learn how to relate to, utilize, and appreciate better.
To break the ice, I have a joke to share, one that I sent to a practicing friend of mine regarding the fact that my midheaven is Gemini and my sun is also Gemini.
Breaking: Local Gemini Rips Off Own Mask, Reveals Smaller, Smugger Gemini Face Underneath
I look forward to hopefully getting to know you better, to let myself be known in return, and be a part of this space as a good internet/global neighbor!
Hi @Tommi! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum!
I’m an Eclectic Witch who lives in an apartment and is disabled, so I don’t get out much. I don’t know if I would call myself an Urban Witch, because the town I live in isn’t that big, but there are comparisons, I think. I like candle magic and chants, and I’m getting into Pop Culture Magic. That last one is fun! But that just because I’m into fandoms too much and I’m weird.
I like your idea of a joke, and the joke was funny! Here’s mine:
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are on a camping trip
After a hearty meal and a good bottle of wine, they lay down to sleep.
Suddenly, in the middle of the night, Holmes wakes his trusted companion and asks “Watson, what do you see?” Rubbing his sleepy eyes, Watson answers: “I see millions and millions of stars.”
“Correct, Watson, and what do you conclude from that?”
Watson thinks for a moment and then answers: “Well, temporally I conclude it is about 03:30 AM, astrologically I conclude that Venus is showing in the sign of Aquarius, astronomically I conclude that we are on a planet, orbiting the sun in a spiral arm of our galaxy, and religiously I conclude that God wants to show us with this splendour that we are but a small, insignificant speck of dust in the infinite grace of His creation. Why, Holmes? What do you mean?”
“Watson… somebody stole our tent.”
Anyhow, it’s nice to meet you! I look forward to getting to know you!
Sherlock Holmes, clapping back with the “please notice the obvious, Watson, I’m begging you”! That’s awesome, Amethyst! Thank you for sharing that!
I love pop culture. I like how it’s a condensed, distilled shot of communal human interest with extra zing such as music theory, cinematography, semantics and semiotics, memetic language, call-and-response… Fandom is another wonderful, beautiful facet of human culture and narrative inclination!
So in my completely unbiased opinion, you are in very good company if you love pop culture. It’s very nice to meet you, and thank you for the lovely greeting!
Yay! Another fandom junkie! LOL! It’s nice to chat with you! And you’re welcome! We try to say hi to everyone who joins and make them feel at home. If you have any questions or anything, just holler, and someone will pop up and give you a hand!
