I am an atheist witch
My craft is not a path of worship, but one of intention.
It is a practice shaped entirely from what resonates with me - a collection of rituals, symbols and moments of focus that draw power from my own mind and will.
I cast spells, but the magic is in the shift of my own energy, the clarity of my purpose. The results I see are born from my mindset, not a whispered plea to the heavens.
I sometimes use the language of deities, speaking of a Goddess or a God. But to me, they are literal beings.
They are metaphors, archetypes - tools to help me frame an intention or understand a facet of my own inner landscape.
The masculine and feminine within these symbols are aspects of the natural world and the human experience, not objects of faith.
My power comes from within. It is the quiet certainty that my focus can shape my reality, that a ritual is a way of speaking firmly to my own subconscious.
It is deeply introspective, this craft of mine. I sit with mystery, not to solve it, but to let it deepen my understanding of myself.
I walk this path alone, guided by my own intuition.

That’s a beautifully written statement of intention. You’re not alone; there are many of us who don’t work with deities, myself included. We don’t look up, we look inward. Your understanding is my own, so this resonates with me.
Enjoy your journey! Happy Imbolc!
I like your approach. I’m a Chaos person, studying and understanding approaches (even practicing them) is what I do. That is different but also acknowledges your way. Intention is big for both of us.
That’s interesting, and very cool that you’re following your own path! I’m the opposite. I don’t do many spells, but I work on my spirituality. Or at least, I’m trying to. It’s difficult some days, but I work on it. I get the atheist thing, though, at least I think I do. Some of my favorite fictional characters are atheists. LOL! Sorry, once you get to know me, you’ll find out I’m usually serious but joking all at once.
Sensational Sunday Jeran,
OMG….you said, EXACTLY how I feel. I was raised an athiest, and I used deity names just to give a ‘name’ to an idea. You said it soooo well!!!

And a beautiful one at that. Thank you for sharing your path. It is perfect for you. I’m happy to see I am not alone in some of my sensations.
