I’ve been down the rabbit hole lately with sound thanks to a series on Gaia that I’ve been watching. I want to go back and write up a nice post about what I’ve learned ,but I feel like I want to rewatch some pieces first. That’s a today project.
Here’s my question though: If I listened to a sound bath on spotify, would I be getting the same vibrational benefits as listening in person? I know that evening if the vibrations are not the same, the sound is still helping me relax and that’s a benefit all on it’s own…
Follow up Question: How do you learn what singing bowls, etc. to use for specific purposes if you wanted to do it yourself (I really don’t… I want to enjoy it without learning to do a whole new thing! LOL) and Follow Up Part 2 - how would one find somewhere that offers a sound bath? Google is being a little bit broad for me!
Long ago, there was quite a difference between recordings and live music. The quality of recordings has improved quite a bit. However, it still depends on the quality of the recording and your equipment. If you feel enough of a difference, you can attempt to find live, but recordings ought to suffice.
I’ve never done a sound bath, and ambient noise and singing bowls aren’t really my thing, so I can’t answer from that perspective. I think @SilverBear has experience with sound baths and singing bowls - maybe she can help!
I am a sound healer and offer sound baths at my studio - not sure where you are from…but I am in Milford,NH.
Listening to YouTube videos can still be healing but it will never take the place of an actual in person sound bath experience. The vibrations are intense!
I can’t answer much for you except for the case of whether you can listen to a recording and get the same experience.
I have only one small bowl gifted by my SO but the sound and feeling I get when I use it is unlikely to be duplicated by electronics. As @SilverBear said in her great response, it does move you internally and it is a unique experience. You don’t just hear it - you feel it. There is a different balance doing it artificially.
OBTW: I’m not into the bowls at all but I enjoy demonstrating mine to friends.
