Spell of the Still Waters

Spell/Cleansing Ritual to Help you Find Inner Peace & Quiet the Mind

Timing: Any evening works for this spell. Consider casting it during the waxing or full moon if you desire added strength from the Moon. Whenever you feel that your mind is too noisy.

Materials Needed:
-One white or pale blue candle
-One small bowl filled with water
-One sprig of lavender, rosemary, or chamomile. (Fresh or dried herbs are fine.)
-One small stone (preferably amethyst, lepidolite, moonstone, or any stone that you associate with peace/calming energy)
-Matches or a lighter

Directions:
Begin by lighting the candle. Turn off the lights and find a comfortable seat.

Place your bowl of water in front of you. Set your stone next to it and drop your herbs into the water.

Take three slow, deep breaths, then light your candle.

Stare into your water bowl as if you were gazing down into a still lake at night by moonlight.

Visualize every worry or restless thought as a leaf floating across the water’s surface. Do not attempt to disturb the leaves. Allow them to float away.

Place your hands over your heart and repeat: “Mind of wind, now gently cease. Spirit, carry me to peace. Like moonlit waters, calm and deep, Guard my thoughts in sacred sleep. Worry fades like morning mist. Fear releases from my wrists. Quiet grows where chaos stood. Within my soul, all things are good. Breath by breath and tide by tide, Peace awakens deep inside.No storm can shake my sacred sea. Stillness now belongs to me. So it is, by Earth and Sky, Moon above and stars on high. With grateful heart this spell is spun. Its work is done. Its work is done.”

Sealing the Spell:

Hold your stone firmly in both hands.

Close your eyes and envision the stone absorbing every last frantic thought you have and replace it with calming waves of silver light.

Press the stone lightly against your forehead, then your heart.

Say quietly: “When my thoughts begin to race, may I look to this stone to remind me that peace has been patiently waiting for me.”

Carry this stone with you in your pocket or keep it by your bed for the next seven days.

Lastly, dip your fingertips into the water and press your forehead gently, saying: “I choose peace.”

Allow your candle to burn (safely!) for a little while longer. If you feel the need to snuff it out, remember this spell when you do; don’t blow angrily or hastily. Take three deep breaths and exhale slowly as you imagine tucking the flame of peace away into your heart. Thank it for lighting your way and snuff it out.

Daily Peace Charm:

If at any time throughout your day you feel your thoughts spinning out of control, repeat:

“I am the quiet between the waves. I am the stillness beneath the wind. Peace lives within me, and I return to it now.” Say it THREE times.

May your mind become like the trees in the morning forest; busy with life, but never rushed.
