Purpose: To connect with the energy of insight, inspiration, and fresh starts by honoring the spirits of the East.
Best done: At sunrise, on a windy day, or during a waxing moon.
Direction: East
Tools:
-
Yellow or white candle
-
Feather, incense, or bell
-
A piece of paper and pen
-
A small dish for offerings (honey, herbs, or dried flowers)
-
Compass (optional, to face East)
Ritual Steps
Cleanse Your Space
Waft incense smoke or ring a bell gently. Say: “Air and wind, cleanse this space, Bring clarity, truth, and gentle grace.”
Side note: When I cast circles, most times now I use visuals…and I make sure the circle is a complete bubble so it wraps ALL around me…round and round, from earth to sky…to sky to ground.
Set Up Your Altar
Face East. Place the candle, feather, incense, and offering dish before you.
Light the Candle
As you light it, say: “Spirits of the East, breath of life, Carriers of dawn, free from strife.
I honor your winds, your whispers, your song— May I walk in wisdom all my days long.”
Hold the Feather or Ring the Bell
Close your eyes and feel the air around you. Visualize it dancing with golden light.
Whisper: “Guide my thoughts, inspire my mind, Let clarity and truth in me unwind.”
Write a Message
On the paper, write a word or phrase that reflects what you seek from the East—such as “clarity,” “new ideas,” or “courage to begin.”
Offer It Up
Place your paper under the candle or burn it safely, then offer the honey or herbs to the Earth. Say:“Spirits of the East, I give this with heart.Thank you for helping me make a fresh start.”
Close the Ritual
Snuff the candle. Blow gently into the wind or say: “Winds of the East, I honor thee.
Thank you for your breath and clarity. So mote it be.
Optional Affirmation:
“I breathe in light. I breathe out doubt.
I am open to new beginnings and bright ideas.”
